Fallout 3, I think many would agree, is a lesson in how to do DLC.

The Pitt had one of my favourite moments in any game; being captured and disarmed, set to work in the mine, then pickpocketing a guard's own lead pipe and doling out some bashy justice! Operation Anchorage, a whole new way to play, and Broken Steel busting open the original ending. I felt good investing the points in these, because I wanted to pay good money for good content hoping to encourage such enterprise in the future.

However, too many are the times to count where I not only felt the content was poor, but an outright waste of money. Although oddly enough I liked Horse Armour.

Recommend some DLC that will improve a game/seems genuinely worth it?

I thought Minerva's den (Bioshock 2) was fantastic. As a general rule, dlc usually sucks. The good ones are exceptions and not the rule.

Captcha: 10-11 addisca

The best DLC depends on how much you love a game.

Perhaps one of the more justified releases i bought is the Secret Armory DLC for Borderlands.

Other than Point Lookout, which was great, (I guess Broken Steels alright because it raised the level cap), the Fallout 3 DLC didn't impress me much at all. Mothership Zeta was awful, and the Pitt and Operation Anchorage were way too short, and I feel that the only reason for Operation Anchorage's existence was the cool loot at the end (nothing wrong with it, the Gauss Rifle was the coolest gun in the game).

I liked Dead Money in New Vegas though. Lasted me about 8 hours, and was significantly different from the main game. My main disappointment with it was the lack of cool weapons (The Holorifle is my new favorite in the game, but honestly, there's that, the Bear Trap fist, Automatic Rifle, and Police Pistol. Except for the Bear Trap Fist, none of them were particularly unique). The story was interesting, and the companions were fleshed out well and given a good amount of backstory.

Oh yeah, all the DLC for Borderlands (except for Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot) was pretty awesome. Especially General Knoxx.

Dragon Age: Awakening (although extremely buggy) and Shivering Isles for Oblivion were great expansions.

you know i have nothing against dlc's but i really didnt like how some companies use them, i was actually agaisnt broken steel as i think that should have been part of the original game (i mean the original ending was garbage and lazy) but the like of the pitt was a genuine add-on and compleatly worth it.
there was one for fable 2 (really cant remember the name tho) that was worth it, as it was a genuine addd-on and fun as all hell

The lair of the Shadow Broker.
It's easily one of my best gaming experiences of all times.
And since one my first games were Sonic 1, I played a lot of games.

Hands down one of the best DLCs ever and a proper way DLC should be done is the Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption. Sure it isn't as immersive as the core game but it takes a good tongue in cheek look back at the core game and provides a few more hours of fun.

One thing I thought might be interesting is if a company were to make an entire game with the dialog done using text, and then have DLC that gives all the characters voices. (Hey, it is extra content that would take them a looong time)

Even though I didn't care much for GTA4's story and characters, I loved the 2 downloads. They took me away from the things I didnt care for in the core game and were both very fun and well worth the time and money. They gave you a fair value and a quality product.

I wanted to like the downloads for Saints Row 2, but I couldn't. They were just not that fun. The core game though is still one of the best times I've had in my gaming history.

Don't get Arrival(ME2).

Piece of rushed crap, looks like they threw the whole thing together in a month at best, it takes an hour or less to finish it.

Battlefield Bad Company 2:Vietnam,now that is how a true DLC should look like...it almost looked like a completely different game yet it still harbored that Bad Company feel to it.
