As some of you may know, my opinions on DLC are that of simply, I fucking hate it.

I typically don't get the point beyond withholding parts of the game just to make another 5 or 10 dollars off some small item but on occasion, while browsing the PSN store, I've found some DLC that's actually worth it and something that you can tell the developers put actual effort into.

So far, the only DLC I've ever downloaded and fully liked was the DLC I purchased yesterday for NIER which is 15 new stages, new weapons, new costumes and basically, a download of the Eastern version NIER: Replicant in which you play as a more effeminate male character rather than the grizzled middle-aged protagonist of the western version.

Personally, I think that's well worth the 10 dollars I got if for.

So Escapist, what's the best DLC you've ever bought or if you never have, what would you want in your favorite game's DLC?

Borderlands: Secret Armory of General Knoxx.

After the epic fail ending that the first borderlands had I walked away without doing the second play through. When Knoxx came out I picked it back up and gave it a try, loads of fun.

Overlord for ME2 is the best I've gotten so far.
I don't get much DLC, so it's hard to compare COD map packs to an extension of a good RPG.

All the Fallout 3 DLCs where fun and the Zombie Island DLC for Borderlands was hilarious. I don't really hate DLC too much though.

Well pretty much Team Fortress 2.

Class updates, new maps, new game modes, all for the low, low price of $0.

So yeah, that.

The best in terms of price to content, would probbly be the first DLC pack for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA. Roughly $20 got me:

-9 MP3's
-9 new pre-rendered PVs for all those songs
-all 9 of those songs as playable stuff in the main game
-a custom PSP theme
-and a sidescroller game based on one of the PVs for Hello, Planet.

I think it was pretty worth the price. The MP3s themselves are almost half that price on their own (going by what I see like $1 per song on online music stores). lol

All the fallout 3 DLC was fucking amazing in my opinion, a nice chnage from the grey and brown of the wasteland.

Well, the only games I've played with DLC is Team Fortress 2,Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, and Fallout 3, and I can safely say, I've enjoyed every minute of it.

Updates in World of Warcraft were pretty good... and they had to be downloaded, so they are DLC.

I haven't had much fun with most DLC's though. I don't like paying for additional content, unless it's a huge expansion type deal.

Overlord was good, but damn, I nearly leapt a mile everything time that damn VI spoke! There may be good signs for the pre-Mass Effect 3 DLC after all...

Also, the pure time trials for Mirrors Edge. Those were some crazy looking environments alright.

Is Overlord out?

OT: I actually quite enjoyed the Kasumi stuff for Mass Effect 2. The whole heist mission was a fun change of pace and for some reason I love her voice. So there's that.

Other than that I've only bought little and almost always found it to be lack lustre.

I thought Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage were rather bland, honestly, and they tried to bribe players by providing a ton of unbalanced new weapons to make up for it.

The Pitt had fun exploration, Point Lookout had a great mood and awesome battles, and Broken Steel? Broken Steel fixed the "shitty ending" issue in Fallout 3, and was damn near the best money I've ever spent.

Horse armor! Oh yeah, I loves me that horse armor...

Ok, Broken Steel is pretty good, mainly due to more Liberty Prime and finally fixing that annoying game ending thing...

The Taxidermist Chronicle of Heavy Rain. It came free with my game and it was a very interesting and quite frigging scary playthrough. It didnt last that long but it had 5 different outcomes which was nice.
