You know which group of people has the most fun? That group for which gaming is more about having fun than caring that oh my god they're using the wrong platform.

I sure do.
Nothing like sitting in my comfy chair in front of the TV instead of sitting in my comfy chair at the computer. Its amazing what a slide of 24 inches can do with my rolling chair.

Really, I enjoy console games simply because I put it in the Xbox 360, turn it on, and it works just like the box said it would.

Every time i've bought a computer game since forever, it didnt work, until I just stopped buying.
Mods would be cool though.

YES, I "enjoy" pc gaming on occasion, but you can't have as much fun when you're not sitting down on the couch relaxing... or running on a treadmill wilst playing halo.

I'm an RTS fan, but I get all my RTS games on Console..

PC games run on the mentality that you already own a computer from this decade, because you don't necessarily need a gaming rig to run them, however you do need a decent one to run them well. You can't expect to run Crysis on your Commodore 64. This differs from the console mentality, where you need that exact console to play the game, however, you know that console can run all of the games from there. Both have their pros and cons. In terms of money, they equal each other, although PC games are cheaper. In terms of user friendly-ness with big shiny buttons and a nice sugar coated dashboards, the console wins, whereas the PC can get better game play and extreme graphics. So, what's the tie breaker? Two items put the PC in the lead...mouse and keyboard. Although, now there are adapters that you can buy that allow you to use the mouse and keyboard on your console, so it really doesn't matter anymore.

I think it's pretty much just what you're weened on. I grew up making maps for doom and duke3d so I'm more a PC guy.

Consoles will always win out when it comes to local multiplayer though just by their very nature.

Im 3 Xbox's in and I still prefer it to PC gaming, I have done alot of both and the PC for me wins only in RTS and some RPG aspects (I love the BG series. The console is just so handy I can play from the comfort of my bed, things will always work etc
Well...
Lol this is why I should learn to proof read my posts, I know I should have learned my lesson by now but I'm a glutton for punishment :)

Main thing i liked about PC Gaming: tabbing out to look at other crap while grinding on MMO's.
Main thing(s) I like about console gaming: Not having to upgrade my rig, and no Aim Bots on my FPS'

i like console gaming more because that is what i have been doing for 20 years now. i am much more comfortable using a controller than a mouse and keyboard. also i enjoy the user friendly appeal of online games on the consoles.

now i wouldnt be opposed to trying an online game on a pc (so far i have only tried single player) but first there would have to be a game that i am interested in for the pc that isnt on a console. maybe diablo 3 will be my 1st.....

Used to be a PC gamer, back in the pre-WoW Blizzard days, but I made the move to console and I can say that I'm happier. Since I now have a career and a family I prefer the simplicity of the console setup, and most of my friends do too.

I know that with a console, you can be sure that a game will run fine on it.

and that with a PC, you better be damn sure your PC can run it, or else you are in for a laggy, unplayable mess.

*feels ripped off after getting "The Bard's Tale" off of Steam, only to find that its slow as fuck even on low*
Exactly this, except switch The Bard's Tale for Portal.

Me: "Hey, that looks like a fun game, let's hit up Steam and get going!"
Portal: "Y... eah... no... you... c... an't... pl... ay... thi... s..." (absolutely unplayable, with a full second of lag between each movement, on lowest settings and a running in a tiny window)

Although I can actually play some stuff since I got a new graphics card, I'm sticking with my consoles. I'd still need to upgrade my PC a lot to keep up with current games, and then keep doing so in the future. Even if I bought the parts, I'd have to get friends to help me or take it into a computer shop to get them installed, for fear of the irreparable damage that would undoubtedly happen if I did it myself.

Long story short: I can't afford it or be bothered with the effort when console gaming is so much cheaper and easier.

(Fair warning for anyone who wants mock my lack of technical ability or otherwise flame: don't bother, I'm not interested.)
Mock? Certainly not, I feel very empathic towards you. I also tried, and failed to maintain a gaming PC. I gave up and bought a PS3 after two months of hair-pulling stress. Now, I can sleep easy, knowing that I can still play game tomorrow.

I'm more of a console gamer simply due to the capabilities of my lappy. Bioshock's the absolute limit of what it can handle. Anything more demanding, and it balls up in the corner and cries. I'd love to be a more avid PC gamer, but I just can't afford it. Also, consoles are much, much, much easier to deal with. I know my way around a PC, but if something goes wrong (like software that requires a hard to find patch to make it compatible) it's a huge headache to take care of. Consoles, simply, are plug and play. Everything's more or less guaranteed to work, and I shouldn't have to spend buttloads of time searching for a driver or a software update.

tl;dr version: I don't really have more fun on one or the other. It's just a different kind of fun.

Get Steam. Nothing else needs to be said, you can IM your friends, set up community pages, send gift games, invite them to games, know whether they're online, know what they're playing, etc, etc, etc.

It's funny how people mention Children, while I've found more children playing on PC than on any console.

Seeing the wars going on and so many bitter people on the internet, it seems no gamers have any fun at all.

Voicechat/sending data?
>:) gotcha, hehe.
Steam would be a great product if it wasn't responsible for me not being able to play Half-Life 2 or its add-ons any more. It generally fucks with games a lot.
"The Game you are playing has not been registered on your account. Please verify your CD Key and restart" after having registered Left 4 Dead 8 months earlier. WTF?

I am very much a PC gamer who also has a PS3 (Reason: Most of the good X-box exclusives come out on PC, so I end up being able to play pretty much anything I want. This is besides the point though). Interestingly, I found almost all of the OP's posts to apply to me... but for the PC, not the console. I feel like I'm just a random person in a random game on a random server while playing on Console (and sometimes I want that.) If people are talking it's usually racist or straight up un-intelligent. And I don't have to worry about annoying "Open-mic" people letting me into they're living room the whole time we play because most PC games are push-to-talk. On PC I have about 100 friends, 20 or so I am really good friends with. We met through TF2, and I know most aren't going to be jerks because server admins (usually) do a good job of filtering those kinds of people.

And all that work you talked about... I like it. It's fun. (Ok, not trying to get rid of a virus, but pretty much everything else) Most PC gamers are computer people in the first place. We like installing hardware and updating drivers. I know I enjoy reading patch notes for drivers and seeing whats going to be improved when its done installing. And the majority will never have to "Install private servers", we just join the hosted ones. I run a server for TF2 and all I had to do was give a company 30 bucks and they sent it online.

Overall, yes PC gaming DOES take a bit more effort, but less than you seem to think, and it's not like it's all boring and work. This is why PC gamers have always been considered "hardcore" for the most part, we're just people that dont mind working a bit more for better payoff in our games. Thats cool if the console people want the easier way out, but we know we are getting better graphics, load times, more games, and better mod tools (and therfor better community). By the way, I bought my gaming rig for almost exactly $1000 (not £) through a company that built it for me after I chose my parts, and it can run almost all modern games on High or Ultra High and should be pretty good for the next couple years... about the time the consoleers are buying a new system...

Edit: All those friends are on Steam and I run a community group/tf2 server there. Steam is awesome! Also... steam has achievements for alot of games.
