Does being intoxicated help gaming performance in any game at any point? And if so, how much booze is needed to boost results? Also, does drunkeness, at any level, make gaming more enjoyable? For example is smashing Gears of War after having a few pints with friends more fun?

I find some games, like Halo 2/3, PGR4 and Prince of persia good games for drunken gaming. I don't mean stinking drunk, but a bit chippery, so that spirits are up. Also the poor cordination leads to all sorts of funny occasions. Much of this is of course due to playing the games with friends rather than alcohol, but anyway.

I am not a fan of mixing alcohol and gaming. If I do I tend to lean towards more arcade style games like The Bigs or something. However, as a general rule of thumb for myself, I do not drink and game.

I think that alcohol probably never improves your gaming performance but it doesnt decrease it until your atleast abit drunk, and ofcourse everything is more fun after a pint or two.

I heard alcohol can increase your self-confidence and strenght/speed in small doses. But the effect is reversed in larger ones.

lol, I dunno if being intoxicated helps, but I know its a lot of fun!

In WoW, my guild does Drunk Raids on weekends, where we do all the old Vanilla and Burning Crusade raids while becoming intoxicated. Starting off isn't fun, but around midnight is when things start to skew.

Last weekend, I couldn't remember why my warrior had a tier 1 mage head, tier 2 druid shoulders and tier 2 hunter pants in their bag, and I was in the middle of Dalaran with no clothes on holding a 5 pound fish in one hand, and a bouqet of roses in the other. o_O

I think for some it only gives you more confidence which makes you more of a risk-taker in games and through that reasoning maybe make you better.

Guitar Hero is awesome when drunk especially when you're your own audience and harass you to hell for missing a note.
And you just don't listen and streak through half of it.

Fallout 3 after four beers. My shooting was awesome, I was incredibly bold, and I screamed at the world for dying every four seconds.
But on the other hand, I did great as a Main Healer for a raid on Warcraft after three shots. Hmm, guess it all depends on the day.

yes it mixes well
halo 2 was great
and me and my friend were doing nazi zombies and every round we pause and have a shot then board up the windows

it was better than normal zombies for sure i dont think the randoms on live would appreciate it as much if we were doing it during a matchmaker made game though

Playing Streetfighter and getting drunk with a friend can be a blast, but you should be somewhat evenly matched. Every time you lose that's a beer down the hatch. You'll wish you were never born the next morning, but the event itself is barrels of fun.

I seem to remember playing Guitar Hero 3 drunk on more than a few occasions after my roommate bought it. It's a lot more intense just because your reactions are a bit slow. But once you get into the rhythm it can be very rewarding.

If brainiac is to be believed, you would perform better after one pint, because your concentration goes up. But this was tested with darts and pool, as opposed to video games, so it might not be applicable.

Guitar Hero becomes a good drinking game.
A shot for every note missed.

Not for me. There is a huge difference in the way I play when I'm drunk. Unless I don't care if I suck. But then again sometimes I'm actually able to accomplish certain things when I am.

only game that improves with alcohol is pool.. otherwise it just messes up your reactions to much to play properly
