If brainiac is to be believed, you would perform better after one pint, because your concentration goes up. But this was tested with darts and pool, as opposed to video games, so it might not be applicable.
It's basically the same thing, accuracy, hand/eye cordiantion and logic. So would that be a yes?

anything that is simple but still awesome (arguably halo)... bright colours for confusion, bemusement and wonder... it also depends who you're playing with, if at all... depending on what kind of drunkards your friends/you are...

It's shit loads of fun to play games smashed. A personal favourite of mine is spiderman 2 and gears 2.

I tried out starcraft after 5+ beers, and everything seemed to move a bit faster than usual. You really have to concentrate to stay on the ball, but I managed to perform acceptably in a comp-stomp (which is all I can usually manage anyway, I'm not a pro SC gamer in the least). Also, I would estimate that I was able to mainitain at least 80% of my usual performance on the origninal Unreal Tournament after my 8th beer.

If you enjoy occasional binge drinking, (but not to the point of puking or blacking out) and are also a gamer, I recommend trying both at least once. I had a fun time, and you might as well. One last note, this is best done with one or more friends.

I got home drunk on Tuesday and proceeded to play GH5, I sucked hard on guitar and drums but my vocal performances were even better than usual! We later moved onto Beatles Rock Band and I had some of the most fun I've ever had in gaming.

So... Alcohol messes up your reactions and coordination waaay too much for intensive gaming, but party gaming practically begs for the stuff.

Here's one. When playing a game, you could play it like "the loser of each round has to take a shot" only instead, this applies to the winner. Great equaliser as the best players get the most drunk and thus have the greatest handicap when playing.

House of the Dead: Overkill, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Muscle March... A lot of Wii games are pretty fun when drunk.

People don't mix well with alcohol never mind gaming!

I don't drink anymore, i saw no benefits to it really and wondering what you actually did the night before was daunting.

That said of course i have played games whilst being intoxicated in the past and it really didn't increase my performance :D

It depends on the game and setting, drinking alone is rarely a good idea no matter what you are doing, and by drinking I don't mean a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.

However some of the best times I've had with my friends have been over a slab of beer, a few boxes of take-out, and a few multi-player game, be it a board game or a video game, the social setting is what matters, not what you are doing.

Oh and the Wii while drinking is freaking awesome, about the only time I enjoy the wagglefest :D

Hell yes, I was a lab-rat from my brothers year 9 science experiment, I took increasingly large ammounts of vodka over time and seeing how my performance in ut2004 was affected. It actually got better, but so did my taunting of the computer players.

Yeah.... don't play Rock Band drums while drunk... that is not a good mix... I suppose it would help calm nerves in some more intense games... like Gears of War multi-player.

One thing about playing console games and drinking beer has to be pointed out: it's a real challenge to drink with both your hands occupied. It's possible, and quite managable if you have beer cans, they're easy to operate only with your mouth.

I've gotta try that, I'm very bad at Halo and always take a beating. However, if my mates were shitfaced stone dead drunk...

if youre trashed, you suck. but some people can loosen up and play better if they have one or two in them.

when you get frustrated, your higher-order thinking shuts down (making connections between events, drawing conclusions and adjusting your gameplay: in effect, you lose the ability to learn from your opponent and adjust your strategy). if you're lightly buzzed, you don't get angry as easily (most of the time), so you retain the ability to outthink whoever you're playing against!

I'd say no, but then I can't fit 360 games into my martini shaker so it makes it tough to mix them at all. Same with the blender. :p

Honestly, though, I couldn't see playing anything that required decent coordination like an FPS (especially against other sober players) or some of the touchier 3D platformers (like Mario Galaxy) while sloshed (or even mildly so.)
