Maybe there are good girl gamers, but I don't remember coming across one. That doesn't mean I haven't, it's just that I couldn't give a flying fucknugget.

I consider myself quite a good gamer. Atleast on platformers, RTS, Stealth and games like GTA.But I can play almost any game without problems, just depends on my willingness to play that game.

As I have 100% In atleast one in each of all those categories. 100% on every GTA game I would consider myself quite a good gamer.

In all honesty that question offends me a bit.

PS: My record on Jinpei in tekken is 4,7 seconds on Jin. =P

i am a female gamer with a twin brother. so we did a little case study to see, when raised on the same games in the same environment, which gender excelled at different games (we were bored and had a free saturday). i beat him in EVERY genre, and i work two jobs, so he has way more gaming time than i do. girls rule, always. :)

there are damn good female gamers out there, especially in shooters as far as my experience goes.
Back in the good ol times when i was playing Counter Strike in a Clan, i got my Ass kicked by some girl-clan on nearly every Tournament.
In most MMO's and similar games the gaming Women i know just don't advertise with their femininity.

Granted, I know that I am not the best gamer in the world, I accept that. Although, my little cousin is a killer with any Xbox game, it's like she has some crazy gaming superpower. I bow down to her greatness and one day they shall erect a golden idol in her image.

I am a gamer, but I play my games on the computer. I still feel burned by the first time I played against a guy. He was the roommate of a friend of mine, and he loved playing Street Fighter. His character was Cammy and he played it at least 8 hours a day. So I came over to spend time with my friend, and he offered to let me play him, apparently thinking that because he pwned the game every time he played, I'd be an easy mark.

I'd never played Street Fighter before, and I completely pwned his ass every time he fought me (I was playing Chun-Li). We must have played 8 or more times, and he never got a hit on me. And he lost it. Stomped around in a rage, threw his controller. I mean, guy had a meltdown. He actually ran off and out of the house. I ended up playing the game and I won with every character but Dhalsim. He kicked Chun-Li's butt.

He didn't come back until the next day, and never offered to play me again. I was kinda shocked and horrified by his reaction. Dude was in his 20's, seriously, and he never acted like his manly parts were so large they dragged on the ground. It's sorta put me off playing Dudes in person. That kinda meltdown was *not* fun to witness.

I think I'm okay at playing games. My reaction time is generally crap (and has been since I was in grade school), so I spend most of my time playing RPGs and TBS, like Baldur's Gate and Civilization solo.

I'm sorry, but did this topic really need a thread? OP, I don't want to sound rude, but perhaps if this topic is REALLY bothering you, you should go out to a few gaming hotspots/conventions and take a few surveys. As for this thread, if you're goal was to strike up healthy conversation, you probably should have worded the question differently so it doesn't condone only "yes" or "no" answers... i.e. "Why are women stereotypically or realistically weaker or less adapted to playing video games than men usually are?" (Shorter version: "Why are or why aren't women less successful than men at playing video games?" Hotbox post: Video games and women.)

As for the thread's discussion, it can go either way. There are excellent gamers out there that are females, and there are poor gamers out there that are females. The exact same synopsis goes for the men of the gaming world. The only difference would be the amount of people who devote their time and energy to playing video games. Men outnumber women in plenty of fields, and same applies to women. If you really want to know why men seem to enjoy the video gaming world a lot more than women do, pick up a Psychology textbook and read about behavioral/instinctual demographics and their differences when comparing the female genome to the male genome. Trust me when I say you will understand why the two sexes are so different, yet so very similar.

No, clearly the woman?s brain is too tiny and easily confused to learn, through repetition, the manly skill of becoming good at games.

That is why I will never be even as good as my brother at any type of game, ever. Those games where I seem to be better than him? It is just a lie and an illusion built out of a deep rooted pity.

Of course, I've met plenty of girls that are brilliant gamers. Several in an old clan I was in dominated everyone else. Sex is irrelevant. From what I've seen, Eleima is brilliant at the Heavy in tf2.

2.) Most guy gamers are masochistic, egotistical, sadistic, and sexist.
When it comes to online gaming.
Speaking of sexism, did you just call guy gamers egotistical and sadistic in the same sentence you called them sexist? Because that seems a bit sexist to me, lady.
Im not saying girls arnt, but i am saying from my online interactions at least 75% of guys are like that.

I have seen a female gamer... I even sat next to her!

She was researching Final Fantasy for her work at University on a BSc Games Software Development course.

Ah, from your interactions. Your interactions and "most guys" are two very different things.

Good female gamers are naught but a myth designed to taunt males with poor gaming skills.
You are obviously either:
a) a female gamer who plays against unskilled males.
b) a male gamer in disguise.
Ever hear the phrase "that's gonna come back to haunt you" darling?
My girlfriend doesn't even play games that much and she's really good at the 360 game [Prototype]. Saying that all female gamers aren't good honestly makes you a sexist twit. Some suck. Some don't. Just like some males suck. Some don't.
