I just want to use this opportunity, now that I've thought about it, to think out loud.
When running the scenarios through my head, I would say that, for me personally, if I were to look down to Earth after I die so I can see how people react, I'd rather see people who don't mean much to me be disrespectful in light of my passing than to see those same people act like we were so close so that they can feel a false sense of self-sympathy or to try and get it from others. Some people just seem to want to feel like they've gone through a tragedy so they can feel that they're earned a right to a victim complex.
I'm not saying that anybody should ever be disrespectful to somebody's death, so no, I'm not condone the actions that took place, but I do think that for my own personal death? It means nothing to me to be disrespected. It happens enough in my life, and I've been disrespectful to a lot of other people and things to feel that it's just a form of karma for me, but I hate it when I see people try to cash in on pity by acting like they suffered such a huge loss when it's all just crocodile tears.
