Find an Indie music club, or the Indie music society at your uni, and go along. Not everyone there is on that sort of quirky wavelength (obviously) but yeah, you'll find people like that in those kind of places. Obviously it's not the same because they're movie characters who have every line written to some kind of purpose. But there are people that are kind of like that. Go to venues and bars that proudly proclaim 'Sonic Youth played here'. Oh, and go to Camden.

EDIT: And Juno, the most recent archetype of 'quirky indie girl', was written by a woman. Which explains why Juno herself is a lot better rounded than most other female characters I think. It's a hard thing to write from another gender's POV. For anyone that's read any books by the Bronte sisters, try to find a scene where there are two men alone in a room, without a female character able to overhear it, etc.
