Do the number of pages a thread has affect your desire to post in them?

I don't post if it has more than two pages because the odds of my post being useful or even seen is very slim.

Unless I'm super passionate about the topic, I usually never post past page 3-4. Nobody will read it, nobody will reply, no point in it even being there really.

Oh most definitely. I mean, unless it's a topic I'm really interested in, then I'll post, but if it's more than a few pages then forget it. I want my opinion to be heard, but if it's more than a few pages then the probability of being read gets much lower. So I just get real discouraged to post. That said, despite wanting to be heard, I've got nothing to say. :p

Yeah, the only time I'll add a comment past the 3rd page is if my opinion hasn't been represented yet or if I'm going to be quoting a person.

EDIT: This only applies to my first post in a thread. Once I'm in a thread I'm going to keep up any arguments or conversations which are going.

Yeah, I tend to post on thread with less posts. 20 page threads are so saturated, you need a really diverse opinion or criticism to elicit a response.

Yep, if it's a huge thread I tend not to post because I don't see the point. Usually someone will have already made the point I was going to.

I usually don't post in threads too large, but if it's one I really want to post in for whatever reason and I want to avoid reiterating a point I will usually find a good or bad point to quote and add my 2 cents.

The more posts there are, the less likely I am to even read it, let alone post in it (unless it's another "what are your top 3 games from this generation that prominently feature bagpipes" thread). Because that indicates the presence of a social/political argument, which I know will just make me mad.

I stopped posting in big threads after someone lectured me about reposting an opinion that had already been presented. It kinda scared me away from posting things for a while haha....

It depends. If the last page thus far has just mostly been a back and forth between a few people I probably won't post but generally it doesn't matter although if it's in the area of 5+ pages there is very little chance I'll read every post...

Not really, as long I have an opinion in that thread, I will comment and post on it.

I feel irresponsible posting in a thread without reading what's already been posted, but on the other hand I'm too lazy to read through anything more than three pages, though I'll make an exception if the topic and people's opinions are interesting enough.
This is how I feel. I want to see everything already posted so I can jump into the discussion at it's current point. Otherwise it would be like walking in on a conversation that's been going on for an hour and starting to talk about the first thing that was mentioned. I'd feel like a tool.

Oh damn, the thread's reached two pages.

All right, introverts, we're done. Too many posts now, move along, let's go home.

more often than not, yes... if there is 1 bazzilion pages, that just means that my opinion will be less likely to be heard...

Huge post count? Forget about it, most of the comments at that point are people just arguing back and forth via quotes.

It effects how or when I post, but not necessarily IF I will post.

If a thread has like, 30+ pages then I might think "My post probably won't be seen." To that effect, I usually skim the first two pages and find someone who shares my opinion, quote it, and maybe add a quick little blurb myself.

I usually won't bother if there is more than 2 pages of posts already. On the other hand though, if I actually have thought of something brilliant to say (wouldn't want those moments go to waste... and usually my ideas are more or less targeted to OP) I'll post anyway regardless if there is or isn't many posts made before me. Most of the times without reading more than few posts on the first page to get a clue as to what's the thread actually about.

Seeing as I'm not popular enough to always get responses I try to avoid the huge threads. Unless I'm going to quote someone then I'm almost certain to get a response. Not always the case though
