Let's see, I'm a WoW player, let's see what happens if I talk.

So, anyone seen the new Star Trek? I've been hearing really mixed things about it. It seems to be divided between the casual fans and the hardcore fans, and I consider myself a casual fan, so I should enjoy it. I do think it is kind of fan service to put Nimoy in the role of Spock, even if he is future Spock.
Yeah I have. I thought the first third or so of the film was fantastic but then it petered out a bit. Don't get me wrong though it was a good film with brilliant effects and an average storyline.

If you wanna know what to think watch The Onion News vid about it =P

Of course my WoW-playing friends don't just talk about WoW.
They also talk about how every other MMORPG under the sun is nothing more than a giant puddle of unmitigated arse-gravy.

Speaking as a WoW player myself, when I talk to people who have no interest in the game, or when I talk WHILE playing, I don't actually mention it that often. Talking to my ingame friends, we usually talk about stuff other than, say, which is the best offhand for an enhancement shaman.

Really, if your friends can't talk about anything other than WoW, are they really your friends, as talking about it with you present excludes you from the conversation? Also, have you tried asking them to talk about something else? I know it works on me, the few times I get carried away and start discussing WoW with my sister.

I'll say this; it was better than I expected, but there were some elements that really ticked me off. I was never a real fan of the original Star Trek, but that doesn't change the fact that Star Trek is sacred, and the new movie resembles Star Wars waaaaay too much for my taste...

...Talk about WoW when we raid, Talk about other stuff when we're not, dunno how else to put it, there are some people who just can't let a subject go, but they're generally ignored...
Alot of what I'm reading here are obviously just bad expereiences. I had a nice conversation about treatment of war prisoners with a guildmember that lasted a few hours the otherday, it was fasinating...

As a WoW player, it bores me to speak about WoW 24/7, pretty much 90% of the people where i work play, so all you hear every break is WoW talk which makes it hard not to talk about it, but i try.

I play wow and only talk about it if some one else starts the conversation, or am talking to other people who play wow. Some of my friends want to play it but can't/ will not pay the £10 a mounth so i don't talk about it around them, and I try to not start a conversation about it. Normaly though with my friend group its 40k or DnD that we end up talking about. ( i don't play 40k as I can't offored it although want to)

Me and some of my friends play WOW but some of them cant stop talking about it. i cant stand it. We just played the dam game and now the first you talk to me about is... you guessed it WOW! I mean come on.

If you play it fine it's a good game, if you play it and talk about it every so often still fine, but when it gets to constantly talking about it or trying to make every conversation convert to something about WOW then it gets annoying!

Yes we know your obbessed with it but that doesnt mean you have to talk about it with people who arent as entrapped in the game as you are for fuck's sake! I mean it's like they cant live with out it or something!

Maybe i went a little overboard! :p

Yeah actually. Now that I think about it when playing WoW, people in my guild (before I left WoW) would be more inclined to talk about things in real life such as football or the news. Almost as if they want to think about something else other than what they are playing.

Yet in real life/when not on WoW the majority of what they would talk about would be WoW. Seems it a bit counter-intuitive but:
*shrug*.

Liek omg guise all WoW playas liek hav no lief or anyfin rite cus liek they play a game dat isnt call of duty or halo guise. srs.

Seriously, whats with all the WoW hate threads? Typing your opinion in the form of a statement doesn't make it fact. It's like me saying 'Everyone who plays Halo is an arse-hole pre-teen who thinks they are black'. I might think it, but it doesn't make it true. Hey wait, I'm a WoW player and I was just talking about people stating their opinions as fact. Damn. That isn't allowed is it, I was supposed to be talking about WoW...

So guys, has anyone cleared Ulduar yet?

Of course they do.
Shoot. You beat me to that exact wording. And someone else beat me to bringing up a derailing topic. I think the only thing left is to ruthlessly mock those people who claim all WoW players to be obsessives, but...I'm feeling decidedly non-confrontational.

I played WOW with the same bunch of friends (more or less) for 3 years.

Shortly before WOTLK release I decided to call it quits, I was exhaused from 2 years of leading/organising raids and yelling over vent. So, I left and got my farewells: "damn you're leaving? gl+hf mate, coming back?" NOOO.

Anyway, of course, these friends are still smacking up with their daily dose of WOW on our old ventrilo server. But I can't bare to be in ventrilo for more than 5 minutes. I can't get a word in because they never stop talking about WOW 24/7. ZZZZZZZZZ.

Anyone else have any WOW friends who fail at being friends?
Oh the travesty of discussing wow on a wow based vent server primaraly populated by wow players.

I play it, and I do talk about it. But I am not a single-minded WoW player. I have other interests and will talk about them to the best of my ability.

I seem to be one of the few, though.

I have a few friends who play it, and they can't talk about anything else.
