Do you assume people on the internet are from the same country as you?

I usually asume everyone is either from the UK or America.

Through my many years of frequenting forums and playing WoW I've come to the conclusion that besides me and three other people the internet is full of Americans, Russians and the Dutch.
Those are the groups I seem to come across the most.

Really? Excluding an imageboard that must not be named, I don't think I've ever run into any Russians online.

I got nothing against the Russians, except when they insist on speaking Russian on an English-speaking Role-playing server even when Blizzard made RUSSIAN servers for those people...

curiously nobody expects the french to show up anywhere, and from this topic i can see why, in fact i dont think i have ever encountered anyone from france online, they seem to have their own segregated internet ghettos

No, I assume that everyone here is from Japan, and that when they post, it's right after a POW! filled martial arts battle, and they say what they are going to post but because of poor timing it actually posts several seconds after they are finished speaking.

It's probably because Russian people can't get on US servers, I'm on the European side of things.

Nope, I tend to assume people are American unless we're on a forum relating to something country-specific or something that's not well known outside of the UK.

Nope, actually I'd be very surprised if I found someone that's from the same country as me. I usually assume that whoever I'm talking to is either an American, or an Australian.

Nope, I assume they're American...and it's usually true. Unless they're not from America. Then it isn't true.

Nope. I live in Canada, and I assume everyone is American... My entire internet life revolves around Americans, from the Americans I always play with online to the people I post with to the host of my website.
