I am from England and I always assume everyone I speak to is from America. This is mostly because 80% of the time they ARE americans.
I'm from Australia and I never assume anyone is from here. I often get quite a shock when I find people who ARE from Australia on the net just because of the low probabilities involved (and then I start looking at if they're female and how far away from me they live ahem). I always find it amusing and even a little disturbing when other people obviously don't take into consideration the very obvious fact that the internet is global.irefusetoincludenumbersinthisname said:Since I'm from the U.S., I'll admit I'm guilty of this from time to time. What about the rest of you, Escapists?
EDIT: Before anyone asks, I did search bar (I love how that's a verb here), and found nothing.
I did not know "bloody" had that kind of origin. I say it every once in a great while (and get funny looks), but I'll have to start throwing it around more.TheMadTypist said:I also say bloody a lot, because I found out it was worse than "fucking", but here, nobody knows so you can say it in public and nobody yells at you for it. Apparently descended from the oath "God's Blood" or "Christ's Wounds", both considered highly rude when they were in the common language.
I've only met four french people, probably less than that. D:MikeOfThunder said:I'm british and living in UK but for some reason i presume most people are American online. Thats mainly because i have encountered mostly Americans online..
My Top 3 encounters online:
1. Americans
2. Brits
3. French
I did, but then I discovered the Escapist.irefusetoincludenumbersinthisname said:Since I'm from the U.S., I'll admit I'm guilty of this from time to time. What about the rest of you, Escapists?
