Anything over 10 dollars I spend hours researching. I analyze hundreds of forum posts, I read dozens of review, I watch even more gameplay videos.

So yes, if there's a demo I'll play and it will factor into my purchase decision.

If I hate the demo then I don't buy it, if I like it, I consider it with of course reviews, friends and forums all taken into consideration. The demo should be a presentation of there best work, if I hate it I'll probably hate the rest of the game, which I usually do. For example the Bioshock demo was terrible, but I really wanted to give it a try because everybody insisted it was so great and played through the entire game hating every moment of it.

Yep. It was a strange concept enough for me to love it and buy it. One of the firsts of its kind, and all of my friends who played the same demo said it would stink. Well, that was Metal Gear Solid, and I've stuck with the series all the way to ps3. Loved it.

Yes. I bought MGS4 after I had played the demo around 20 times, it turned out to be one of the best games I've played.

I did that once, and that was with FEAR 2. A demo of Resident Evil 5 made me hate the game and avoid it altogether, because both the controls and gameplay were abysmal.

For the most part, yes, either a demo I downloaded or from trying a game at a friend's house.

Last one I tried was DeathSpank, and I will be buying it as soon as I can.

Demos are a good indicator for me if I'm on the bench whether I'll like the game after having watched gameplay videos, previews and screenshots.

I'd have never have bought Skies of Arcadia, if I hadn't played a demo on a dreamcast magazine disk. Arguably that got me to like RPGs too. Would have been a damn shame if I never played it, as I loved that game to bits.

A demo can help a decision, but won't be the deciding factor. I'll still research it first.

Like Brutal Legend. The demo was fun. The game was terrible. If I hadn't researched it first, I would have bought it.

Not usually, because the developer makes a demo to try to get you to buy the game. So usually a demo is comprised of all the good stuff of the game and none of the bad stuff. Which is alright, except sometimes the bad stuff would have changed your mind.

After Mirror's Edge and Force Unleashed?

F No.

Demos are just a cheap trick to fool you into buying a crappy game.

I have bought games based on demos, I have also avoided what I thought would have been a good game based on a bad experience with a demo

What I bought and loved the Force Unleashed because of the demo. That and Arkum Asylum are the only games I got because of demos. I wasn't even a Star Wars fan until I bought the game which made me want to watch all the movies (Spike conviently aired a Star Wars telethon about the time I finished the game) except the Clone Wars.
