Do you buy games you don't have consoles for?

Today I went to a game store that sold all games 1/2 price off. I managed to get FFXIII Special Edition for, no not the RRP of $140, but $60 (AUS). I intended to get a PS3 eventually, but it did make the purchase feel a little bit empty when I got home.

So whether you're a collector or not, do you buy certain games you can't actually play?

The only reason that I might buy a game for a console that I don't have, would be to give it as a gift.

Only due to not paying attention to the word "Genesis" positioned where the word "Megadrive" should be in British versions of a game. I knew my subconscious was trying to tell me something looked wrong with that Ecco the Dolphin box.

i only got a game once that i didn't have a console for but that was the day before i got the console

The only reason you'd do something like this, is if you were buying a present, or if you were 100 percent sure you were going to get the console.

Why in the hell would I buy a game for a console I don't own when:

A) there's a good reason why I don't own consoles in the first place, I'm a PC-exclusive gamer, and

B) Well, actually there is no B. A pretty much covered it.

Um, no? Seems kinda stupid if you only have vague plans for maybe eventually getting the console. But I wouldn't have that problem in the first place because I play exclusively on PC.

Well kinda. I bought both Crysis and World in Conflict before my last re-build when all i had was an old pentium D and a slightly busted 8600GTS (which still works better then ever to this day in my mother's PC i built out of all string, gum and paper clips. That thing runs more reliably than my new one. It's baffling!)


Both games looked like ass on that old buld but i bought them as almost an aspiration "One day, i will run you. and run you at max!" i vowed. And i now do. Feels good man.

My relationship with Oblivion started like that. When I got it I had 256mb of RAM.

I usually buy games in my mind that I don't have a console for. I don't have a PS3, but so far I've bought Demons Souls, God of War 3, and Heavy Rain... in my head. Well, I plan on buying them really, but still.

Oh, and by the way, nice first thread. Most first threads are some old meme or some thread about how Portal is the best thing ever. Good job! And because I'm so nonconformist, I'll give you a brownie instead of a cookie.
