It's just occured to me as a switched songs as my Dad came home that I often change music according to who's around. I mostly listen to Metal or Rock, but if people who dont listen to metal are nearby I'll almost always switch to rock. Anyone else do anything similar?

Discuss =].

Not really.

'It's just noise' = 'I am incapable of following anything which isn't a black person talking'.

There I said it.

No. I do turn my music down if someone is around, but I don't change what I'm listening to.

I am respectful of my surroundings though. Say for instance, if I'm driving through an elementary school zone and something with strong language is playing, I will either turn it way down or skip to a less vulgar song.

I do, I think its more out of respect for other people than anything else. A friend of mine gets annoyed at how much I listen to the killers so I turn it to something else when she gets in my car - likewise, I don't really want to hear the heavy metal she plays in hers (or what passes for heavy metal these days).
And do you really want to become that guy who drives around everwhere with the windows open blaring drum n bass out of his car? Or the son of a ***** who listens to his MP3 player so loud you can hear the bass when your sitting 4 seats down from him on a tube train? No.

Not in the slightest. My music is for my enjoyment. If others don't like it, oh well. They don't have to listen to it. Unless I get death threats that are more in-depth than the usual ones, and actually followed through on, I refuse change my musical inclinations to please others. And it had better be a damn good attempt on my life to get me to think otherwise.

That said, I'm not the kind of idiot who blasts his music for all to hear. My music is for my ears, and mine only.

I usually force my music on people, because I believe I have the best taste in Music out of anyone I know or will ever meet, so I like to enlighten them about bands they should be rocking out to on a regular basis.

Nope, I do not... I'm the only one of my friends into death metal (or anything similar) and I know only one other person who's into ska as much as I am (admittedly, I'm not a rabid fan, but still).
I don't care what others think of my music; but I am respectful when it comes to volume etc. Headphones help with this.

I'll turn mine down when I have company. If I'm driving someone around, I'll try and stick to something we can agree with, out of respect. That doesn't mean I'm afraid to admit what I like to listen to, though. If they want to hear it, so be it. :)

I couldnt care less what others think about my taste in music, for the similar reason that I dont care in others either. It's just music anyway.

yeh, I won't play classical on my laptop when my brother and sister are around because they make fun of me and while I don't care about what they think it's really fucking annoying, I usually use earphones because my laptop speakers have been making a scratching sound as of late.
