euh'm that's like the middle east it's Eurasia there

that's why we call it the middle east

because it's neither yet both
(Asia) is bounded by the Arctic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. The western boundary, with Europe, runs roughly north-south along the eastern Ural Mountains; the Caspian, Black, Aegean, and Mediterranean seas; the Suez Canal; and the Red Sea.

Israel is east of Suez. It's in Asia.

Eurasia refers to the landmass as a whole (ie Europe & Asia combined) and no specific area within it.

The Middle East actually refers to rather large area streching from Egypt to Iran (And in American terminology "the greater middle east" covers an area from Morocco to Pakistan and as far south as Somalia). Its called the Middle East to differentiate it from the Far East and Near East (as the Balkans used to be reffered to) because its in the middle of the two other "easts", this is useful particularly when one's empire is operating in more than one "east" (as it was the British who coined the term to differentiate it from thier holdings and actions in the Far East)
sure thing but we call it middle east for a reason

And anyway where we came from in this argument both The turkish and russian capitals are in The EU (the Ural and bosporus border behind these 2 cities)

PS: The part of turkey we nowadays consider european (even on cut off maps of europe that I've seen in school) makes the border there run roughly from Antioch to Samsun

And to cancel out all argument about this all this is the map for the EU

No, we didn't. And Europe is not synonymous with the EU.

I have pointed out that Russia does indeed have a majority of its population in Europe and that a good chunk of its terretory is in Europe. This is not the case for Turkey. While Constantinople is in Europe, Turkey's european holdings account for less than 2% of its total land area and no where near a majority of its population. Simply having the capital in Europe does not make the Country European.

Yes. Unfortunately. Because being a big power in Europe, makes us in the EU, and that is most DEFINITELY not cool!

We are, but whenever someone refers to Europe we just think of mainland Europe.

Geographically yes, its on the same plate.

Culturally maybe, we are America/Europe hybrid.

I guess they are now. My mom has a couple of friends from Portsmouth and their daughters were telling us not to call them British or European when they visited our house in America.

My brother and I were like, "Oh...er. Okay. So, what should we call you?"

And they stiffly told us to call them English because they certainly were not British or European.

But now, I have a friend from Rotherham who doesn't care. She's like, "Yeah, through the EU and such we are technically part of Europe but I don't really care. Just don't call the Scottish, English." She's really laid back so I guess it really depends on who you talk to.

I guess I consider Britain an ally of mainland Europe but given Britain's history, I understand why they consider themselves separate.

yeah we're part of the EU but we're much happier separated from everyone on our own little island.
Plus we can't smell the french from across the channel.
