I sketched nude models in college. I wasn't very good but it was a fun course.
You're darn right you weren't very good at it -- she's still wearing her panties. :p

I used to back in School (I used to get A in Art) but it's all gone when I went to Uni for an non painting/ sketching Art degree.

If I had more will power and paitence I would have loved to be a fanartist used my deviantart and tumblr account for actually uploading drawings!

Used to.

Last time I did draw something was 5 years ago. It's sadly just a test of patience I dont have.
When my low attention span doesn't interfere its my OCD that will make sure that I give in after making mistakes too many times.

Yes. Yes I do.

I find myself in the same boat as Casual Shinji, except that I do miss it, a little. I think it's the dayjob as a VFX artist. Often when I have tried to apply my artistic talent to VFX, it gets ditched for other mundane methods. it's too much to go into at the moment, but I'm hoping to get back into concept art and illustration... or, whatever. Eventually.

Oh right, I forgot to add some drawings!

I used to, but after high school I just kind of stopped and haven't bothered to try again. I want to, but I just haven't.

Oh absolutely! I'm always eager to learn, so critique is indeed very welcome!
Alrighty then.

Oooooh I see what you mean, yeah. I've often found something just a little bit off on some of them without being able to quite put my finger on it. Very good points! I'll definitely work on practicing the balance some more, thank you :)

Oh do I! though its mostly just a mess of stuff:

There's a lot more but I'm not gonna just throw everything here, plus most stuff is like old or just really rough... I'm kinda embarrassed to show my stuff. Also yeah I kinda lean heavily towards just drawing out rough concepts, haven't done a finished polished piece in a while.

I really wish I would use the vast amounts of spare time I had to learn to draw, but I don't know where to start from... I just feel I'm missing something obvious.

I was going to teach myself to sketch serious fantasy maps, with the goal of later painting them. Got a book, nice paper, pencils, the whole shebang. I just wanted to expand my hobbies and give something artistic a try, since I never did before. But after a couple of sessions at the beginning of this semester, I fell into a great big apathy hole that's pretty much consumed my life. I don't know when or if I'll ever get back to it.

I don't know how to answer this without coming off as someone promoting their own stuff...So I'm just going to do exactly that

The above link is to my old DA account...Damn, 8 years...I haven't posted any drawings on there in a really long time though do mostly to the fact that I haven't had a scanner or a digital...drawing...tool to really use. Another tick against DA is that apparently posting your art on there somehow makes it theirs...I dunno, I read a thing about a DA-user finding his own designs on T-Shirts and not being paid or some such thing. From there I also have a NSFW DA account which uses the more familiar Shoggoth8852 handle. Again, the Shoggoth8852 account is NSFW and features a mix of hand drawings, digital drawings and, short stories (some of which have cliff hangers which will never be resolved.)

Aside from Deviantart, I have tons and tons of old notebooks, sketchpads and, blank books in which I've done more drawings and sketches than I could possibly remember. I have posted one "let's play" video on my youtube channel (sorry about the plug) in which I draw a Charmander in Art Studio Academy on the Wii U.

You sure? They pulled out the "we own what you post" thing as an April fools joke once but last I checked they didn't actually own it. However I've not used DA in years.

I used to doodle quite a bit, but nothing ever really good. I find that I can make a decent sketch of things that I look at, but am pretty bad when I just try to draw with no reference. I'm also really bad at shading and coloring, so by best pieces are just sketches. Honestly, I like the look of sketched artwork anyway, with rough pencil lines and everything. Don't know why, it just appeals to me.

Haven't drawn in some time though. I'm usually just too tired to do much of anything after we get the kids to bed. I occasionally paint miniatures for some board games, but even that I've been falling behind on. It's so much easier to just watch something on television or play a video game than to do something artistic. Hopefully I'll get back to doing some art at some point, but it will probably be when my kids are older.

Not necessarily. Open an old Escapist PM and you might find that the message box displays a copy of your old avatar. You can also try visiting "http://quizzes.teen.com/profiles/view/" to see other people's old avatars.

Granted, they may not be the right size, but it's all kept in the internet somewhere.

It could have been the April fools thing...I really don't remember too clearly since this was a while ago and I haven't really been active there for months.

I think I might be capable of drawing... However, literally all the stuff I have drawn is bad copies of other artists works.

If anyone has any helpful advice on how to draw without copying other art, that'd be helpful.

When I was in high school, I desperately wanted to. I knew more artists than most where I went and everyone there was crazy good at drawing, so I tried to draw as well. I never got very good. I could only draw characters from a single angle, faces were always messed up because I could never draw the second half of the face decently, hands never melded into arms very well, the hair I drew was far too anime-esque for me to take seriously, all the poses were incredibly stiff and unnatural, almost like dolls, and I couldn't even draw women. Like, at all. Their breasts wouldn't look like anything coherent. So I just stopped and started focusing on writing, which I am much better at.

How exactly are you copying other artists stuff? Do you mean you trace over them or draw nothing but fanart or that your idea seems to always have been done elsewhere?
