Do you ever find yourself liking a game for the reason everyone else hates it?

It goes the other way as well. I hate MGS for its story, which I find pompous and soap-opera-ish. I just cannot take it serious, and not in a good way.
You're seriously not the only one who does not like MGS. Though I don't see what it has in common with a soap opera.

OT: I don't hate anything just because it's popular or vice versa. But if you're not asking "because" but "even though", I'd probably say Killer7 (which I like) or Modern Warfare 2 (which was very boring except for the finale).

Whenever that happens to me, I get stubborn about it. "This game is most definitely not smarter than I am! I'm beating this thing..."

you are not alone. i love farmville. talking about NOT beig with a majority in here that is.
Yes, because liking the most played game in the world surely puts you in the minority...

Lots of people bashed on Borderlands for it's weak central narrative, but I really didn't mind. It was nice to just be able to romp around Pandora without the constant worry of having to save it/my home/my family/my dog etc. I could devote my time to other things.

Like shooting. And...er...More shooting...

I also love GTAIV for the new physics and "realistic" gameplay, I can't wait till the ps3 DLC is released

The sailing in Wind Waker. I found exploring the Great Sea to be a real nice change of pace, from the treasure hunting to finding and exploring new islands, I thought it was really well done.

Well I love when games eather take all of your items away, or forces you to use stealth. Can't think of a good example tho.

I enjoyed Godzilla unleashed because it had slower combat and no really big combos. I am just not good at fighting games like street fighter were you have really long combos to pull out.

Example: GTA IV is my favorite GTA game because it's more realistic. I am apparently the only one. Sometimes I feel like there's something wrong with me.
My favorite would be Vice City but I do like GTA IV, a lot (3 playthroughs).
I happen to love the first hour of Heavy Rain.
And I do like Kane & Lynch, mostly for its great characters and awesome story.

I seem to be one of the few people that liked Kane and Lynch. It had flaws, but I really enjoyed it apart from the last missions in that bombed out city - the end. With that said I still have hopes for the second.

I liked GTA4 and I still mess around in it from time to time. Glad the DLC is coming to the PS3 too.

Kane And Lynch: Dead Men all the way. Things like the mass recoil was nice since it felt more realistic than games where you shoot with a desert eagle with no recoil at all (close your eyes and run your finger along the FPS section of your local game-shop and randomly stop, there's a very high chance it's a game that does that. There's also a very high chance that if it doesn't do this, it's either not got desert eagles or it's Kane And Lynch: Dead Men). Multi-player was also very good personally.

Monster hunter (all of them) because it dumps you in an open world, with barely any explanation and says "Heres a giant monster, now own its ass"
the fights can last for ageeees, and are very, very hard sometimes lol, makes it awesome for me

i got a good one, since im a teenager any game that isn't COD:MW2 is "gay"

So Plants and Zombies , no shooting in it, so its gay
Civilization 4, To slow to play, its gay
Team Fortress 2 OR ANYTHING MADE BY VALVE, yea probably gay by them

i hate being a teenager..

I like these games because there something differint from the War shooter, something most people i know cant handle..

The most drastic example? Borderlands with it's Claptrap. There could also be others which i don't remember.

I actually like the simplified gameplay and the graphics in the latest Prince of Persia...
