Plausible, as in it isn't outright impossible.

It wouldn't ever actually happen though. It makes a tiny bit of sense up until the $20 gas pump nonsense. Gas wouldn't be commercially available once it hit that point.

I also strongly doubt South Korea would ever willingly join North Korea. Even if the option was on the table, North Korea is more or less a dump with no economy and a military that hasn't improved any from when they got slapped all the way back to the Chinese border when we were there. There's no way that SK would suddenly be like "Oh, ok, let's team up and you can be in charge."

Also lol at Japan surrendering because one "nuclear facility" got destroyed. They're not France. :/

I think my issue remains with the scenario just getting started. It requires the DPRK to reunify with the south, and even then do it in a "peaceful" way that somehow leaves the north in control. That just wouldn't happen.
You will be surprised to know that it would not be that much of an issue for the North, because of the increasing liberal attitude of college professors and students. My father was stationed over there for two years. One year at Osan Air Base, and one year at Kunsan Air Base. The older generation still rembers how much America sacrificed for them and are very grateful. However, the younger generation is being taught with a very liberal anti-American attitude in college. Every Friday our bases have to fortify themselves with sand bags and gun emplacements, because every Friday there is a protest like clock work. Also, I have seen other posts that say the South Korean military could fend off the North on its own. That is simply not true. Not only do we supply them their munitions, but we are so tied into their defensive network that if we were to leave they could not pick up the slack fast enough. The North would come down as soon as we left to maximize on this fact.

Fun fact a lot of people don't know.

The North has hundreds of troops training to assault Osan and Kunsan Air Bases. They have replicated the compouns to scale. This is all these troops are tasked with, to practice assaulting the two main US bases in the South. Pretty cool right?

I would show you a source, but all you will see about it is a prepardness to hold and counter attack if the North should try to take the bases. I would show you the pictures of the mock compound, but we all know how much the North likes its privacy.

Well, see, the problem with that is the North Korean military's horrendously outdated.

here's a side by side comparison of the two nations' military forces, and while the DPRK has more of just about everything bear in mind none of it has changed in a very long time. South Korea features main line battle tanks that are half a step shy of the United States. Additionally, if the DPRK's invading, it has to cross the most heavily militarized border in the history of mankind. And all of this in under five years, so I have no idea when they would modernize their forces. Even if South Korea isn't exactly laying roses at our feet, so what? The South Korean military budget is actually five times the size of the north's, and on their own even if they got caught flatfooted I don't see a scenario where this happens militarily.

On the other hand, the idea one guy floated about Kim Jong Un surrendering then quietly taking over actually seems interesting.

Can an EMP wave even have a major effect on electronic systems when its center is 300 miles above the earth?

Why is Canada closing the border? Is the US's martial law that corrupt (in the hypothetical)? Absent ethical reasons, or a full on Mad Max anarchy, even a weakened US is still a good trade partner for Canada.

Why do these threads keep popping up, it is a work of fiction and that is the end of it. If you really must know more about the story then go into the campaign and collect all of the news papers in it.

A gun that shoots a bullet is still deadly, the frankinstined Ak-47s in Iraq and Afganistan have proven that. LOL BTW your link goes to Afganistan.

The reason the South is one step from being America is because they buy their munitions from us. I assume that the link you provided, if it pulled up South Korea vs North Korea, would take into accout the current US personell and equipment stationed in the South, because the heavily defended DMZ is patrolled by the South and the US.

My thoughts are if something happens that is sooooo bad that the US must leave the South they will not contenue to buy their munitions from us, or we might not sell it to them.

Lastly, you know why I love topics like these? The topic pivots on the word plausible, and lets face it. In these uncertin times ANYTHING is possible, and the prologue sets out the events that would have to happen for this to come to pass.

There was a viral outbreak of the Asian Bird Flu that killed 6 million people.Look at my post above this and watch the prologue. It is at 1.44.

I found it plausible enough to increase my enjoyment of the game because acting out a situation that could happen is always more immersive than some complete piece of nonsense that said don't think its likely just possible.
