I think it looks kind of retarded.

The following doesn't really apply to the picture above.. but sometimes it's like this, although it seems to be going out of fashion now.

"Look how attractive I am trying to look like a fish or a bad parody of one of those models with slightly parted lips. I'll look even more attractive if I wear foundation to cover my imperfect skin. High contrast, brightness, and resizing will cover the fact I cake on foundation to cover my imperfect skin, while lots of eyeliner will make my eyes not almost disappear like my nose almost will once I finish with photoshop." kind of thing.

What are some things girls do to try to be more attractive that just annoy you, or you actually find attractive? Makeup? Internet disease photos?

I don't find it attractive at all, and I think they do it so they won't have to show their regular everyday face. If it looks good, they go "Oh goodie", and if it looks bad they can take refuge in the fact that it's not what they really look like.

I think the cognitive logic behind it is that it's less about the actual aesthetics, but more about the connotations of it.

IE. It suggests they're sexual.

Or maybe that they have Herpes.
