Not in the slightest. It's a bit of cloth with a glorified logo on it, what's the big deal exactly? It doesn't have any bearing on anything, it's just a piece of cloth.
And people burning them are idiots, since they had to go out and buy that flag, so they're essentially burning their flag. It's a flag they've bought, so it's theirs. They're wasting their own money, that they gave to the country they so hate, just to burn a pretty bit of cloth.

The thing a lot of people have to realize is that in America the flag is our "symbol." One of my Con Law professors compared it to the English Royal Family, which seems pretty apt. Basically someone spitting on an American flag is the same as someone spitting on the Queen.
That being said to me the degree of offense I take depends on whos doing it. If its some spoiled rich kid whos parents gave him everything but he wants to "be a rebel" or "make a point" by burning a flag its worse than someone in Iran doing it because they hate America. Thats my opinion anyways.

Hello, I am from Sweden. All other countries are constantly taking the piss of our accent, flag, overall language and other things. I have never heard of anyone here that actually cared about the flag that much, more than raising it on national flag days.
Me? I don't really care because I think it's silly to get angry over a flag.

The only thing that annoys me about the flag -which is sort of relevant- is when people say, "There's no black in the Union Jack, so send the fuckers back!" I don't know how those people can live such ignorant lives.

To me that flag symbolises equality, democracy and freedom. Thus disrespecting flag is same as disrespecting those ideas.JBGigas said:

I really don't care about America's flag. In fact, those few time where my school forces me to say the pledge, you should hear what I actually say about it.
