Do you hate the game or the people who play it?

Kingdom Hearts has the worst fanbase ever. The games itself are okay, but whatever lukewarm appreciation I had for them was driven out by the squealing fangirls. I'm tried of walking around school all day seeing overweight chicks with terribly teased hair, wearing KH shirts, and giggling about their smexy Roxas.

I'm not proud of it, but there ya have it. I'm only human.
I've never noticed Kingdom Hearts fangirls, and every guy seems to have the same opinion as me ("It's alright")....

OT: As someone has already stated "If it's a singleplayer game, I hate the game, and if it's multiplayer, I hate the people" I paraphrased.

If people online piss me off, I will single out that one person who drove me off the cliff of sanity and make his gaming in that lobby a real hell. Then, as my jokes become more humiliating and sophisticated and he can only use swear words and "Your mom", that's when everyone else realizes that this guy is backed in a corner, lets join in making fun of him. Then he ragequits and I can enjoy my gaming in peace until someone else comes along.

From playing Battlefield 2 I learned to hate the players.

I sure did love being lucky enough to get a helicopter from the spawn, only to have my entire team unleash their entire arsenals to kill me just because I got to a helicopter before they did.

Since that experience, I make it a point to avoid games that attract players with the "Battlefield" mindset. IE, that self entitled fuckwit mindset where boys still waiting on their balls to drop remind me how much of a "******" I am for whatever I did.

I've met most of my online friends in Halo 3 matchmaking. Calling everyone playing it idiots is well... idiotic.

People often forget that there is a cure for idiots in a multiplayer game: The magical mute button.

Squeeking child? Mute.
Drunken idiot telling that America makes better cars than Finland? Mute.
A guy telling you to shut up? Mute.
Idiot claiming you to be a noob for killing him with a "noob" gun? Mute.
People speaking in a foreign language and you can't understand shit? Mute.

The possiblities are endless.
Yay! The magical mute button! I call it Trevor; that way when I'm muting people I can sing 'Magical Trevor'

It doesn't stop the use of cheap tactics, but it certainly improves the mic spam. That and ignoring every message you get sent post game.
Plus cheap tactics are slightly more limited in Halo due to having to find weapons before you can use them. (I can't play MW2 online atm. Stupid NAT type which I can't change)

Red Dead Redemption. It was GREAT until a bunch of douches kept killing players in free roam. I want to kill a damn gang NOT OTHER FUCKING PLAYERS, and the spawn killing, OH THE SPAWNKILLING. If you die once prepare for a hailstorm of deaths, spawn deaths, and being headshoted. Best of all people will go out of their way to piss you off, and its not worth any XP (okay 10XP but that barely justifies it) they do it purely to piss you off.

The players. I'll be halfway through a hideout raid on Red Dead Redemption, no deaths when a guy in the game will appear behind me with his Evans Repeater and shoot me in the head 5 times like it's a fucking machine gun. I'll get so pissed off I stop clearing the hideout and chase him down and get killed by another guy who I've done nothing to. Eventually I just turn everything off and come to the Escapist.

Gameplay is what turned me away from Halo. I actually found the game slow and ponderous from the pace you moved to the shield and regenerating health. In all the time I've played multiplayer, I've never quit a server because of a player unless he was hacking.

Typically, it's the people.

Take Halo for example.

The game itself, in my opinion, is...okay at best. It's an average shooter. Nothing that great about it. But the fans of the game are so fucking annoying that it completely ruins the game itself for me.

Whenever my friends con me into playing Halo, I just so pissed off at the other people who play. I already don't like Halo, but the people make me loathe the game.

Edit: L4D players who go running off and cause the team to die. Jerks.

As someone who kills people in free roam...

If you don't want people to have the option of killing you, then start a private match. If all you want is to be one guy alone in a world fighting gangs then use the option the game provides you. And don't play in an open lobby that allows players to murder each other.

Or form a group / posse and defend yourself.

Or maybe people like you should play deathmatches instead of killing players who are there for fun. And, again, killing in free roam is done just for the sake of pissing off other players.

Except that the game itself allows people to do it. Just like it allows you to remove yourself from the general public that may or may not want to kill you.

The wild west was pretty wild. People were killed for their horses, or land, or women, or because somebody might be too close to a gold claim.

See it's for almost all the reason's here that I basically stopped playing any game online unless it's with people I know.

I've had a few people invite me to Mod Warfare 2 matches and when I've explained it's not really a game I can be arsed with I get:
"Ok, leave it to the men to play while you get back to your toys."

...Ummm...you do realise you're pretending to play at soldiers, right?

I'm fine with the games. I think Halo is great overall even the COD MW2 is good. It's just the fan base that pisses me off. If you judge a game on how people online are then you can count most of the multiplayer games as terrible, and that doesn't make sense at all.

That WOULD be true if it was the west. But an Xbox game. I have never died and seen someone take my horse, so you have no argument on that part. (Besides most people kill lower level players) Basically its people that are not skilled enough to play real battles that have to kill the players who are just trying to have fun in an open world. So, in other words, anyone who kills people that did not attack them first in Free Roam is a compelete asshole who needs their account banned. I do not mean you Randomvirus, I can tell you are a nice person who is just trying to stand up for what they do. But over all, that game has people who play it for the ask of being a douche.

Not true, apparently. The Wild West was pretty honourable and polite. It wasn't easy, so people had to rely on each other. As usual, movies have turned it into a romanticised idea of every man for himself.

I'm too busy enjoying the games I like to hate other games or the people who play them. I don't always play online, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis -er I mean I don't converse with other people, mute them, and/or sing badly into my microphone to annoy them into submission.

On the other hand, having good people to play with has allowed me to greatly enjoy some games I never would have touched with a fiery ten foot pole. Yes, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, I'm looking directly at you.

I hate the people on MW2. Not just the idiots who go out of their way to make peoples playing experience a misery, but also try-hards who think they're the best and look down their nose at you.
