Nope.
If you meet me in real life id be the same guy i am on here.
I hate it when people are fake to me, even on the internet, so unless im on a site like 4chan im exactly like myself irl.
I grew up in one of those spammer-coated forums; it made me change my identity to protect it. Of course, I took over the "spam family", for about a year, before the entire site collapsed on itself. Good times.
Lol, it is fun.
Even if im just lurking the insanity and sometimes actual Discussion is really enjoyable.

I was totally that one guy the admins went after all the time. I'm probably calmed down a bit, so chill, lurking mods.

I, for the most part, am just more open when I'm posting online. Mainly because I'm such an antisocial person, and forums are a nice way to talk with people and not be so pressured to think out your responses quickly.

...I have developed a bit of a persona when I post as one particular username that I haven't used in a while, though... Mainly, though, I stay myself.

Having a persona is /so/ much fun. You should try it.

On a side-note, I find myself quoting a lot.

Two, one being a joke concieved for a comments section of a comedy site, and the other being a bit more restrained version of my real life self in terms of language, but a bit more outgoing than my RL self (so it's not really a persona, and more of just a shift in language).

Also, I don't know about Escapist foruming yet, so I don't know if it's normal for people to post a lot on their own thread.

I'm fairly new, and I don't think it's too odd.

Quoting's fine too, by the way, in moderation. Makes things easier to keep track of when threads get lots of posts.

...I want to develop an odd persona for my senior year at school, based on various game characters. BECAUSE I WILL BE BORED OTHERWISE.

Toasty emerged partly subconsciously, partly out of hatred for the money-addicted admins at my first forum. I'd love to look into this more; it's a fun subject, and could be a small-scale for cultural conditioning- if you like extrapolating.
I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea how that would relate to how you described your other persona in the other post. I'm sure I'm missing alot of information on all this though, so that's probably why.

Awesome, thanks. I shall put this knowledge to good use. *grabs shotgun*

Wait, sorry, my thoughts are always a bit fragmented.
Toasty is my over-all internet persona, but he conditions himself from site-to-site. My first forum persona was vaguely anarchist, anti-corporate. I keep that with me as I travel the webernet, so-
Sorry, fragmented thoughts again.
Basically, I act differently in different forums, but with the same base personality.

In real life I'm really shy and rarely ever speak, but I'm not shy about commenting online
(when I'm interested in the subject.)

Not intentionally, no. However, I have noticed when I go back and read the various posts and messages I have written, I come off as being infinately more sympathetic, courteous, and patient than I am IRL (I tend to come off as an impatient dick towards others IRL, FYI).

Anyone I've RP'ed with can attest to the tremendous patience I exhibit on the interwebz, were they to meet me IRL, they'd more than likely find it hard to believe that I & BakaSmurf are the same person.

A few characters I've got up for possibilities are Travis Touchdown, Solid Snake, Ezio Auditore de Firenze and Dan Smith (Killer7).

...All either badasses or assholes.

Nah.

I don't see the point in pretending to be something else on the internet.

I'm the exact same here as I am in the real world.

IRL I am not eloquent I can not express my self completely so I seem I don't know smarter on the internet, oh and I'm pretty arrogant on the internet. But other than that I act the same way.

Coolio. Whenever I try to express myself in either real life or online, my posts/words get very jittery and broken. My brain is moving ahead of my slow mouth/fingers.

Not really. I'm a bit nicer on the web, but that's about it.
