Do you have any interest in the Wii U?

I think the system has a lot of potential. There are a lot of nintendo games that could make good use out of the controller. If Nintendo had wanted to, they could have destroyed sony and microsoft if the Wii had been a hardcore platform instead of a casual gaming toy for just dance 3 and wii sports. That said, I need to see some games for it before I throw down some money for a preorder.

Edit: I just realized I am being optimistic about a Nintendo product. Have not done that for a couple years.

ALso I imagined a zelda game in the unreal engine, my mouth watered

I think it could definitely turn out to be interesting, but I probably won't get my hopes up too far. The only reason that I really wanted a Wii was for Monster Hunter Tri. I'm just not all that interest in most of the recent Nintendo published titles.

On a side note, I just recently bought a SNES and am loving the heck out of it.

Nope. I can get third party titles for my PS3 or 360. I have no interest in games that Nintendo develops anymore.

Primarily a PC gamer, hate Sony due to the PS3 and have no interest in MS.

So yes, I'll get a Wii-U as it's the only one that interests me.
Out of sheer curiosity, why the hate for the ps3? Is it the lack of backwards compatibility with ps2 game?

I'm actually very interested, but not hyped as of yet. It does seem like Nintendo is going off on it's own path again, however this time it's also trying to bring in as many hardcore gamers as they can. In saying that though, some of my best gaming experiences have been on Wii, but there just haven't been enough of those experiences compared to other consoles. All of Nintendo's titles are great, but they really needed third party support. It does seem like Nintendo is working on that... But we'll have to see. We also know very little about it, so until we know more, I'll remain very interested with a little bit hope that Nintendo can pull it off again.

Nope, the only reason to buy another Nintendo console is for Mario, Zelda and Metroid. All three have been lackluster this gen. Before anyone tells me how brilliant the galaxy games were, I don't think they were that great and to be honest, I had more fun with Super Mario Sunshine. As hard as that game was, I actually stuck with it to get 120 shines. I beat the final boss on both Galaxy games as soon as I had enough stars and I never had any desire to complete them 100%.

I doubt I'll get any argument over the mediocrity of Other M but I am sure some will say how Skyward Sword is the "best game evar!" or some shit like that, don't. It looks bad, it plays bad and it has less content than Wind Waker from what I hear. Wind Waker had to fit on mini DVD's, Skyward Sword gets a full DVD and I'll bet most of the space is wasted. 5 years and this is the best Nintendo could do?

I have 2 Wii's and both collect dust AND they don't even perform well as a Netflix player. Put the PS3 beside the Wii and it streams HD Netflix content without a problem. The Wii, a few feet closer to the router can't even stream SD content without stopping to retrieve ever few minutes. It's sad really and I don't need another dust collector.

I'm actually not hyped up or even all that interested in the Wii U. It doesn't look like a piece of crap or anything, but it's not doing anything that makes me want it the instant it comes out. Maybe once we get word on the launch titles. Either way I'm sure I'll still get it for the first party titles. I do not miss out on Zelda and 3D Mario games. I just don't.

The thing is, this is the first time I haven't been hyped up for a new Nintendo console. I was too young at the time for me to truly remember the N64's launch, and my family didn't get one for a few more years. But in the meantime, I would play the crap out of it over at my friend's houses. And when I came home from school one day to find out my brother had bought one, I was the happiest kid ever. After that, I got hyped for the Gamecube before it launched. It was so weird to think a an entire game could be stored on those little disks, and there were a ton of great looking games for it.

And the Wii? Five and a half years ago, that thing looked like it was made by all of the Gods as a gift to the human race. Mind you, it didn't exactly turn out to be as good or as revolutionary as I had hoped, but I was definitely excited. And I'm not forgetting the handhelds. The GBA, the GBA SP (It was so sleek and had a backlight!), DS, 3DS...those were all day one purchases for me, unless they were close enough to Christmas or my birthday, then I didn't mind waiting.

Comparing all this to how I feel about the Wii U, it doesn't even compare. There's no wow factor. It's an Xbox 360 with an Ipad. It's cool that I'll be able to play my console games on the toilet, but that's not exactly enough for me to start saving up a few hundred bucks.

Not really. Nintendo games are certainly fun but anything else that I want I can get elsewhere, so it won't justify the price.

I was at first. But then I realised that the only real reason I was interested was because of the prospect of an HD Zelda. But just like the Wii before it, it won't be a major gaming platform. After the next Xbox and Playstation come out it will yet again be lagging behind on out-dated hardware. Like before third party developers who actually make games worth playing will neglect it in favour of the other consoles.

At first I was also pretty impressed by the controller, but then I thought about it a bit and it seems pretty pointless to me now. It looks really unwieldy, and if it's true you can only use one per console that really sucks. Also, the whole second screen thing seems totally defeated by the fact you can play games with it just on the controller screen. If games designed for the console work fine just on that one screen then what's the point of using it as an extra one? It's a total waste of time and effort to try and create a game with a dual screen display if you can play the game with just one. Seems pointless to me. If you're going to make a game that only needs 1 screen to work then don't fill my hands and weigh them down with an extra unnecessary screen, Ninty. Just give me a normal controller. If you want to run your games on an iPad then swallow your pride and release them on an iPad.

Nope, not interested at all. Nintendo hasn't really made anything in years that's really appealled to me and, on top of that, the WiiU is such a poorly conceived piece of hardware that doesn't offer anything to quality gameplay.

I still have interest in the Wii U since I still am unsure of what it is. I'm also curious to see how 3rd party developers will approach the controller.

The Wii wasn't "a major gaming platform."
I mean from the perspective of a "hardcore" gamer, although I hate to use that term.

And I don't hate the Wii, I have one and I have plenty of games on it that I enjoy and appreciate that they are the kind of games that you just don't see on other consoles. But I barely use it in comparison to my 360.

I'm very interested in this. Everyone seems to be focusing on the controller and how there will be some Ipad like games. This console not only supports all of the 3rd party developers so you might be able to play COD or skyrim or mass effect on the new wii at full graphical quality none the less, but you'll also be getting your favorite nintendo character exclusives as well. Think about this for a second. Soon, you'll be able to play zelda and mario on the same system that you'll be able to play COD and GTA V on. Think about it. Playing zelda, then switching to skyrim without having to switch the system you're playing on. That is monumentally cool. But instead, you guys are all "Gimmicky controllers and ipad games DERP". I mean, come on. Do you people ever try to find anything good in anything ever?

The Wii wasn't "a major gaming platform."

Wii Worldwide Sales: 90 million

The Wii wasn't "a major gaming platform."

PS3 Sales 55.5 million

The Wii wasn't "a major gaming platform."

XBOX 360: 57.6 million

The Wii wasn't "a major gaming platform."

All I have to say is "what!!?!??!".

Just because you don't like it it doesn't make it bad. Besides, complaining about outdated hardware, why are you using any console at all then?
The Wii has it's exclusives and that's because games developed for real gaming consoles won't run on the Wii. Of the multiplatform games that are on the Wii, who would really prefer the Wii version over a 360/PS3/PC version?

Yes. Haters gonna hate, but Nintendo still makes good games, and if they'll be on the Wii U I'll get a Wii U.

And the controller could actually be good. Streaming a game on it while checking something else on the TV? Fucking brilliant.
