Apparently another thread has been misinterpreted.
It's 'cheer-up song' not 'best song'.

OT:
More Than a Feeling - Boston

Tumbling Down

I don't know the artist, but it plays during the End of Evangelion. It is the most upbeat song I have ever heard about complete and total depression. For some reason, the contradiction makes me incredibly happy.

Lovecats by The Cure does this too, but for slightly different reasons, that being that I'm listening to a song from the eighties, during which I am certain that nothing good ever happened except my birth.

I will admit that Caramelldansen is on my iPod. You can't listen to that song and frown, it's just impossible.

Well the genre of Bodom is always debated, and always thought of it as Power Metal with Extreme influences.
The band's evolution suggests otherwise. However this is one of the most useless debates of all time, "into what genre some band fall to."
How about we call an end to this?

"Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol always makes me want to pop my collar.

Now you might call me a tasteless bastard here... But I have to admit that I like Children of Bodom's cover on Rebell Yell better than the original.

Is there anyone who agree's with me on this or am I alone in this?
You tasteless local bastard! Well I would think that this cover is good, if I would like the band, but unfortunately...

Out of the covers I think that Discipline made the best one, even though they're Oi!/Skinhead band.

Yeah metal fans tend to argue over this a lot, which genre a band belongs to. And each and every metal fan have their own opinion and most even argue like they were the prime authority in this particular topic.

But metal is actually pretty easy to categorize. If you want a challenge, try defining what genre of music Tom Waits makes. Now that will take some thinking! : ) (Is it jazz? is it blues? Is it modern american folkmusic? No one knows!)

And more often than not you'll reach the conclusion tha Tom Waits is simply Tom Waits. XD

When I am feeling down and out a few that tend to make me feel better:

Bobby Gaylor - Suicide
It's a song that really does remind you of all the good things in life. It's mostly a spoken word / Beat Poem, but it's a great reminder of what to live for.
Quote: You'll miss sex! You'll miss thinking about it, looking for it, sex by yourself, sex with a partner, sex with multiple partners....

Moby - Slipping Away
This is one of those songs that always reminds me to try and see the good in a bad situation and to hold on to the people who really matter.
Quote: Open to everything happy and sad, seeing the good when it's all going bad. Seeing the sun when I can't really see, hoping the sun will at least look at me.

New Order - Bizzare Love Triangle
I just can't seem to really be upset when listening to this song. I think because it is tied to so many happy moments in my life.
Quote: There's no sense in telling me 'The wisdom of the fool won't set you free' but that's the way that it goes and it's what nobody knows. Well every day my confusion grows.

Queen & David Bowie - Under Pressure
Do I really need to say anything about this one?

The Dresden Dolls - Sing
This is a song that reminds me to let out some of that frustration or sadness. I usually wind up singing the end of the song and I usually feel better after releasing some of that BS I am holding on to
Quote: There is thing thing keeping everyone's lungs and lips locked. It is called Fear and it's seeing a great renaissance.

I have plenty more, but that's probably more than enough for now.
