i hug my friends, be they male or female. i've kissed a few of them, male and female. one of my friends, about a week before his birthday, asked me what i was going to give him as a present. i said i was going to give him a hug and he replied 'no thanks, i'm not gay'.

I live in Brazil and EVERYONE hugs EVERYONE. It's really weird when I go back to the States because NOBODY hugs there. It's kind of sad actually.

Don't worry, in Poland neither. But we do have a tradition of kissing girl's hand if we are formal. Unless she doesn't want to.

But I guess it's just like that with Spanish-speaking countries and Brazil (I know they speak Portugese, relax), they like to hug and so on.

I hug everyone!
I didn't used to though, I used to freeze up whenever someone touched me.
Boys give the best hugs. i run up, jump on them and knock them flat.

"Used to" already implies the past tense. No point (except for a grammar mistake) in using the "didn't" before it. Or at all.

If they're girls.
A man-hug just involves one arm and a pat on the back with said arm while the other hand is busy giving a manly handshake.

Yeah, I hug my friends. I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm not gay either, and neither are some of my friends. Besides, hugs are always fun! They make you feel good. I think i even made a thread about the Free Hug's campaign.

When it comes to male friends I try to avoid it, besides my friends and I have a slight fear of catching "the gay" (although we do make jokes about it). So no, I do not hug my male friends. Now the girls are a different story :D

Hell yeah. Everyone staying was hugging the shit out of everyone leaving when six of my friends packed up and moved to San Francisco a few years ago. We hug the shit out of each other when we see each other when they visit.

There is nothing wrong with a handshake, per se, but it is wholly inadequate to express sufficient emotion.

At least with my friends. But I've got good ones. Love them like brothers, really.

I have an aversion for human contact. When a girl spontaneously hugged me some years ago, the following 30min i spent recovering from it were perhaps the most confusing 30min of my life.
