Considering how little I use ketchup if I didn't keep it in the fridge it would essentially turn into a giant bacteria culture.

It's an odd thought I had recently. Many of my friends keep their ketchup in the fridge and I can't understand why. The cold contrast between the food and the ketchup tastes weird. I like it to be a additive, not a damn game changer.

This is with Heinz tomato sauce. Thoughts?
Exactly. Cold Ketchup on hot fries just does not jive well together.

And despite popular belief, you can leave it open and not refrigerated for months and it will not sour. I know this as I am the main ketchup consumer in my household, my wife barely touches it, and as such a large bottle of Heinz last me upwards of 2 months, and it never spoils.

So in the pantry no doubt about it.

I never put it in the fridge because if I put it in the fridge it makes me fell sick.

I keep it in the fridge, because it tells you to on the bottle. I follow instructions.

Edit: Seriously, I just checked, it tells you to refrigerate after opening.
[This] i like to follow instuctions because if you dont bad things happen

I like it cold, I like it warm. But the reason it's in the fridge is so when I heat something up, I can heat up the ketchup as well.

Ketchup warms up fast. I always keep it in the fridge. I... never thought of doing otherwise. Figured it would go bad like many foods do.

It says to put it in there once it's been opened, and I don't use a great deal, so as a foodstuff it helps to keep it fresh.

Well if you don't, it'll go bad. So yes, of course.

BTW, if you put ketchup on your hot food and the ketchup stays cold, you're definitely using too much ketchup. It should assume the temperature of the food quite quickly.

My family never has. Cold ketchup on hot food is nasty.

It's a condiment, some people use more than others. I smother hot dogs in some nice room temperature tomato sauce.

I keep it in the fridge, mostly at the request of the missus. She likes it like that, I would normally prefer the pantry cos I normally forget to put it BACK in said fridge.

All condiments go in the fridge in my house. Mayo, mustard, ketchup, dressings, everything.
