You know, I also did Death Note as my short form, for the same reason that pretty much everyone else here has listed...perhaps not nearly as original as we all though. Hehe.

Also, I just wanted to wish everyone good luck. I'm certain there are a number of well-written people here, and whomever they pick will do a great job!

I did TTGL and Ouran, one long and short form each.

Oh... I think I read those instructions wrong.

Oh well, I guess it's better to send too much than too little.

I hope... Maybe...

So yeah, good luck to all involved!

Haha, all's fair. As long as the results are posted before the end of 2010 I'll survive.

I did Princess Mononoke long form, and Death Note short form. And it's been awhile since I've seen either XD I find Death Note enjoyable in its own right and Mononoke was a major film accomplishment for the anime biz. Also, I haven't finished Ouran and haven't seen any TTGL. (Kinda wished I could've reviewed a Satoshi Kon anime, though. He's my current favorite director/creator).

i think it would of be funny if they just foward all of the reviews and made Yahtzee look over them, if they did that NO ONE would be the winner lol

I did my long form on Death Note and short form on Mononoke. I said Death Note was overrated but is still fairly good and certainly worth looking into. I said Mononoke was pretty much the best thing ever because it pretty much is the best thing ever. Mononoke is one of my all time favorite films and I see very little in it worthy of being critiqued. Its a true masterpiece as far as I'm concerned and its definitely my favorite Miyazaki movie, and keep in mind that he has made many a good movie.

Aah, I wish I had heard about this earlier. I love both writing and anime.
Oh well, I still look forward to reading the reviews.

I'm just curious, now.
As in I have a desire to read all the other reviews myself because of how everyone made theirs.
My opinion of how the reviews needed to be made was to give a basic intro to the story, the general plot line and characters, and then give the good and bad to the overall product, then make the final judgment.

Did anyone else do that? Or am I just crazy?

I await your final verdict with baited breath, Mr. Funk. I only hope that my writing at least bears merit enough to be considered.

I just used the form that all of the other anime reviewers use. I assume that is how they want them written since they are all pretty much that way.

I did that more or less on my long form than in my short form. I was able to do a good 8 to 9 paragraphs on ouran, each one placeing a point about the series. Basic concept, plot, main character(s), overall enjoyment, and than summed it up. For the short, well 2 paragraphs was all i could squeeze out of it. the problem was with that i got to the end and saw i had 202 words...boy did i have fun after that.

So, I was thinking, whoever gets the job should throw a sweet rave party. Thoughts?
Haha, an awesome idea, but an expensive one that I couldn't afford.
I'll come to your rave though if you get a position.

Oh it's so fun to go back and read all these silly comments /after/ I've submitted my reviews for consideration.

John, I feel so sorry for the task you have to endure in deciding the winners... and having to deal with the numerous people who didn't seem to read your initial post. I get the feeling this thread would be half the length it is if people read... I do not envy you.

Myself, I did in fact submit my reviews. Short form on Princess Mononoke, basically giving a simple overview of the premise and underlying theme of the series, complimenting the show on the beautifully presented artistry. Long form on Death Note, which I again gave an overview of the premise and underlying themes.

I tend to agree with most of the posters here in regards to Death Note. I had avoided this like the plague for the last couple years simply because of the insanely huge number of prepubescent fanboys/girls who would attend cons in cosplay and just rant and rave about "zomg Light is so sexy and dreamy"... it gave me an aneurysm just thinking about it. It was because of this that I decided to review it. So I picked an anime I had known about and loved for over 10 years (Princess Mononoke) and an anime I had no knowledge of and had previously avoided...

However I found myself absolutely astounded by how well-done Death Note actually was. The intelligence behind the writing of the show shocked me, and made me wonder "why is it that so many people love this show... when most shows to hit 'zomg sugoi it's so awesome' are ones of lesser intelligence?" (Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, etc... not saying these are bad, they're just not high IQ series to be frank). But I thought it was a good anime, hype aside.

But anyhow, I've said too much I think.

Good luck to all who have applied! And John, please don't feel pressured by my competition, take your time as I'm sure it will give the best results to do so.

Agreed on John having to read all of the reviews to decide for the positions. It's what he has to do, however, so I'm waiting, patiently or not.

And props on the actual use of the word "aneurysm" with correct spelling and gave correct usage in the phrase. Glad to see the educational system has paid off.
Or that you can use spell check. But I won't judge, he/she is my friend as well.

I would love to and i have logged so many hours into Anime i lost count at a billion or so.. And i definitely know about the culture.. And the fact that TTGL is on top just makes it even better! It is my favorite anime of all time! And Kamina is my favorite character of all time! And i live in america and i am over 18! But alas my writing skills are less than good. Would you accept someone like me who needs to take a crash course in English all over again?
