Exactly for the reasons you stated, curiosity and making sure I am familiar with what could get me banned. This is only the second forum I've been involved with and the other has far fewer rules. It seems pretty common sense though, and from checking out the posts of those put on probation, suspended, or banned I think I have a good sense of what is and is not allowable.

All the time, quite interesting to see what someone has done wrong, plus, there's always the vague hope that someone has gone completely nuts and been banned in a blaze of swear words and general insanity.

I do hate it when it links to a 403'd topic though, I really do.
Agreed I hate that a lot :(. It's annoying when one of the more 'well known' people get banned and I really wanna find out :(.

OT: Always I love to as I find out new things like how not to act :p. Also I find that some threads they get banned are actually interesting :p.

Yes, always. Purely out of curiosity.

On that note, when I was put on probation during MM, I wonder how many people clicked to see what I was on probation for?
I did. But hey, I don't judge, especially not with my Ban history.

I look often, just out of boredom. I just found out Sparrow was banned (own request). Sad.

I'm not going to even bother asking about if people have done the same for me. My bans and revivals were pretty cool. I got a hell of a lot of PMs about them.

Yeah, I do quite a lot. Sometimes you'll see people who are banned or suspended for doing nothing wrong. You can call out a mod for abusing his power, with over 10,000 posts (not that post count really means anything), and expect to be banned or suspended. There's seems to be no real guidelines the mods use, it's just whatever they feel like doing.

I mean, I've seen people permanently banned for defending a view a mod disagreed with. I questioned other mods and got responses, but the mod who did the actually banning just completely ignored my messages...probably because I was right in what I was telling him, hehe.

Heh, I had a few PMs myself back then. Mainly asking what the hell someone like me had done to get suspended for seven days...

Yes, that's right, I was suspended. Basically whichever mod probated me during MM made a mistake and I was instead put on probation for a week. After about three days and seeing other people put on probation for less, I PMed Spinwhiz who looked into it and corrected it. Though the resulting seven-day probation started from then so in total I was moderated for about ten days... :(

Yep. Curiosity killed the cat. Well, not really, but it did get the best of me. Well, not really. I just looked.

Yeah. It's a very bad habit of mine. "Oh, suspended. Must be a bastard...let's see now."

Yeah a combination of these two comments... I like to see how much a bastard some one is out of curiosity while also learning what not to do. Though I find it extremely weird... it's like they are hypnotic... I'll stop doing what ever it is I'm doing just to click on them... just to find out how much of a nob this guy was. Though I've read some of the bans and I can't truly understand what they did wrong.

I usually have a look, but only if they were suspended or banned for it. I don't really know why to be honest but I suppose it's just curiosity.

Oh by the way my latest probation was for telling the mods that their news post was beaten by the forum. I normally wouldn't except by the time they reported on it it was already a 13 page topic.
Yeah I should PM a mod but I didn't. My bad.
The mods, and myself aren't too fond of people doing that. I mean what are they going to do? Not post the story? Imagine if CNN didn't report on a major story because the BBC got it first.
While this is true, they also rarely give credit to someone who made the giant topic first. And while it might be true they didn't see it on the forum, that doesn't mean it wasn't there and they shouldn't be somewhat credited.

I've vowed to. Ever since a few bullshit probations and suspensions, I've been checking to see who else gets victimized by a mod having a particularly bad day.
