Ermmm....

I have a copy of issue 1 of the Simpsons comics. Would you say that's rare enough?

Well, this isn't really a gaming or movie thing, but I own a tribal stick passed down through the healers of this tribe in Papua New Guinea. It was given to my grand-uncle who was a missionary, when he saved the tribal chief from Malaria, which the healers couldn't cure him of. They figured that he was better then they ever could be, so he deserved the stick. He gave it to me when he died.

It's about 2500 years old. I keep it in my room. I must take a picture of it actually.

EDIT: Here's a picture or two!

Now, this might sound like spiritual crap, but there definitely is a certain aura off it. Maybe it's just me.
I have to say that is extremely awesome...I am jealous.

I guess... A G4 T-shirt signed by the 'reviews on the run' guys, some old records, and a Spiderman cardboard stand up thingy that my dad has had since the early 90's.

In terms of OLD STUFF I have an old pocket watch, my great-grandfather's Free Mason ring, and a photo of my family standing outside their house in Woverhampton. It's now a pub, I think. It's been probably about a hundred years.

I am somewhat jealous about quite a lot of these... Closest thing I have of any rarity is a ticket for the Titanic. (Not sure how that ended up in my household. Possibly when we emptied my Granddad's house after he died.)

Also a pair of Bret 'Hitman' Hart's Silver sunglasses and a jacket he wore to the ring as he entered. Given them to my mum as he was walking down towards the ring, Man they were the Good old days of Wrestling!!

I have a personalized autograph from Betty White. Not something especially hard to come by, but she's one of my favorite actresses so it means a lot.

I also have a chest that belonged to my great-grandpa. I was born the same year he turned 100 so he gave it to me out of everyone else in the family. It's mostly full of little things like an old straight razor, his high school football letter and baby booties (I have no idea who they belong to, but I'm assuming they were his) so it has a lot of sentimental family value to it.

Not having a go or anything...... but.... are you sure that stick is 2500 years old?? I mean that means it was made in 430 BC! Thats 40 years after the battle of Thermopylae, 107 years before the death of Alexander the Great and 330 years before the birth of Caesar!

It looks to be in way to good of condition to be that old. Maybe 250 years, and even still it would be looking well.

Please remember I'm not saying your full of shit or anything, just maybe have your wires crossed a little.

Nope, my grand-uncle reluctantly cut a notch off it in his later years and sent it to be carbon dated, it's in the vicinity of 2,300 to 2,550 years old. It's been passed down for generations, carried with the tribe. It's not their most precious thing though, that's the chiefs staff, which I believe is even older.
That really is amazing! If it is that old your should really entrust it to the National Museum in Dublin; they will ensure that it is not lost or stolen or whatever. I really urge you to do this. As far as I know you can make it that you are still the owner.....

It must have been repainted, or refurbished at some time, no?

I collect CDs and a lot of them are hard to come by. Anyone heard of James Chance and the Contortions? I have a box set of all his albums and it's out of print. I also have Richard Hell's second album, and I once sold a David Ruffin CD for $300.

Most probably, but by the tribe themselves. All my grand-uncle ever did was polish it.

I might give it the museum when I get a bit older, at the moment, I'll keep it for a while.
As it was a gift form him I can understand why you would want to keep it. Please think about though, for thr long term a museum will ensure its saftey.

For me, nothing to rare, although, rare(ish) for Ireland.

I have a German bayonet, with frog, from WW2. It is dated 1937. That fact that the frog is with it makes it quite rare, I belive.

Also, a American matchett fomr WW2. The date of this on, I'm not so sure. I only know it is form the US because the guy that gave it to me said the guy that sold it to hime said it was WW2, USA.

The game case is just to show size.

I have an old VHS of (what I think is) the original Transformers film, with Unicron and those ridiculous cockney robots on the junk planet. Sheer fucking joy. I don't actually know where it is, but it's somewhere, and it's apparently quite rare.

Edit: Oh, also, I think I have Pong. The first ever type of Pong, that you plugged into your TV which looked the size of a PS2, but only ran Pong. Again, I have no idea where it is, but it's here somewhere. Used to play it at my gran's :D
