piano... guitar... bass and guitar... if you play one... you can play it all... if you began with the heavy one like the piano... the other ones... come easyli speciali if you know how to read the "partituras" sorry i forgot how to said in english (im from mexico) anybody here... plays the violin?? it is hard?... i want to learn...
I have played the violin offically more than half of my life (I'm 20 and have been playing 12 years.) and yes it is hard. The difficulty is from the ears you have to develop to learn to play it. Unlike a piano, or fretted guitar, fretted bass, etc. a violin (and any stringed instrument in its family) can hit every note in its range as well as every note in between. You have no frets and have to learn through physical memory as well as hearing where your finger goes exactly, sliding it a fraction puts you too sharp or too flat. Also theres not really any such thing as violin tabs, so you will have to learn to read sheets at least proficently.

I have also been learning the piano, and I am finding it hard. I am so used to having my hands complement each other that I keep syncing them without thinking.

I've been playing guitar now for round 7 years. Best thing I've ever done with my life. I have had so many great times jamming with mates, gigging in different places and generally meeting like minded folk. At such gigs I've had my guitar stole twice and blew my amp out more times than i can count but have always had help from other guys when i needed it. I would recommend that everyone in the world learned an instrument and started a band the next day. What a world that would be.

No! Then the people that did play instruments would lose all the chicks to guys that could play and looked good!

I used to play the guitar a lot. Now I stopped and can play the mouth harp to a proffesional level.

Guitar sounds brilliant and you can make some very nice tunes, but I just felt I didn't wish to continue, I think this may have come down to my guitar teacher. What a hippy prick. Maybe I should dust down the old boy for one last trip.
Self teaching man, it's the way to go. Sure you might miss on some of the nuances of your instrument but you pick them up as you go along. Plus you only have to play stuff that you enjoy playing.

Some very tasty licks there. And what guitar is that in the photo? I like it very muchly.
That guitar is made by a company called Eko. I couldn't tell you anymore about it really because there is almost no markings on it.

I play the theremin.
and to safe you all the trouble of looking that up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin

completely self-built, self-tuned and self-taught. Though I still can't play anything with a moderatly fast stacatto, people say it's pretty good. I don't play much though, as it needs to be retuned for every room you're in, and how close it is to the TV and such.

I played the trumpet in middle/high school band, I play electric guitar now and I tried to learn drums(to impress a girl) but I never really got into it. And I'm now hoping to learn to play the piano.

Also I have the most AWESOME guitar EVER. It's the epitome of guitaritude.

I play trumpet, saxophone(alto, mainly), trombone, french horn, flute, clarinet, ocarina, piano, bass guitar(prefer 5-string over 4, have both acoustic and electric), guitar(have multiple electrics and one craptacular acoustic), mandolin, steel drum... Pretty much anything I pick up, I can play. Kinda cool, being in a ska band, cause I get to play whatever instrument I feel like at the time.

I've been playing the drums on and off since highschool and I'm teaching myself guitar...it's a pain to learn to play left handed on a right handed electric. I'd like to eventually learn how to play the paino and bass guitar as well.

Cheers

Piano, and vocals. Both in a rock band. Although, I'm leaning towards just doing the piano and finding another vocalist. As I kinda suck.

I love playing the piano, I'll never know why. You can't showboat like with a guitar or drums. A real piano, IE one that's not electric, only has one sound to it. A real piano can't be plugged into an amp (I think)

And I think it's the best damn instrument I've ever played in my life. They'd better make a "Piano Hero" or something like that. I would rock. Been playing for 10 years now, but I am a little rusty.
