TheBenMan - Make sure you use your little finger on your neck hand properly, I didn't and now it just curls up and cowers every time I play so I'm down one finger there :( Also, start with full chords, starting with power chords will handicap you when you move on.
Cool, thanks for the tip. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet, lol, but I'll keep that in mind.

I play bass guitar. I'm not very good, as I don't practice too much. I'm trying to practice more by playing tabs; I'm learning "Scream of the Butterfly" by Acid Bath at the moment.

...well, do you? I'm just curious to see if any of you guys are musically minded, like me. I play electric bass (Epiphone Thunderbird, probably the greatest thing I've ever owned), and tend to play covers of things like RATM, Muse, The Living End, Sublime... all sorts really. So, do you play an instrument and if so what do you like to play?

EDIT: Here's a link to my most recent Youtube upload, forgot to add it before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJOO4CfSAf4

I play the Bass guitar, as well as a stand-up bass.

In fact, just tonight, I decided to write a bass-line to Jonathan Coulton's song "Code Monkey" turned out quite nice...and the tab should be up on ultimate-guitar here in a couple of days.

I play mostly bass and a fair bit of normal guitar too. I have a black Yamaha RBX 375 5-string which I adore and some crappy Epiphone Les Paul rip off guitar that I can't even remember the proper name of lol

I play the xylophone and similar instruments in my school's marching band. I can also play drums and some piano.

I play drums, xylophone, guitar, some bass, some piano, sing a little bit (If I have to) and I´ve been messing around with an old cello for a year now. I have to agree with isjusterin, it´s a whole different world, but a very rewarding one if you keep trying.

Music is simply devine. I wouldn´t know what to do without it.

Ok, I lied in my previous post - I just bought a cheap acoustic guitar to try and learn how to play. Any tips for a beginner?
sure. learn some basic finger excercises and scales, and build on that. If you wanna learn to play other stuff that been written, learn TAB, because that's easy. If you need help, message me!

I play both cello and piano to diploma standard, unlike most people who say they play piano when what they really mean is that they can play the left hand chords to Smoke on the Waters and the coldplay thing.

Also I sing as a professional baritone, and give regular public performances on all my instruments.

I used to dabble with the guitar, but I got bored of it.
