I bought Fallout 3 because I heard it was an easy Platinum, and seeing how good of a game it was I figured what the hell.
it's not hard getting all of FO3's achievements, but it does take some doing (god bless southern expression)

I myself have all the achievements including the ones from the DLC packs, and it will likely be the only game i ever get all achievements on (and if anyone has seen my achievement library, i'm sure you'll agree)

I think achievements are a nice extra bonus to get extra play out of games, but I think buying just for the boost tto your gamerscore is sad

I play for the achievements. When I had access to a 360 I played the good games because I wanted to, but I also played the games I knew were crap or that I knew I wouldn't like solely to increase my gamerscore. Does that make me a bad person? I think so.

It seems silly to buy a game simply to beat the achievements rather than the actual game.

Okay, so the achievements are good for extra bragging rights. I don't play on the Xbox360 or PS3, so I'm not aware of any extras in that regard. However, in regards to Steam achievements, it's mostly for the bragging rights.

I'm a fan of achievements that show skill, such as the "Aperture Science" achievement from Portal. I'm less of a fan of hunting all of something down, such as the Antlion Grub achievement from HL2:E2.

I suppose they give you an extra something to do with your game once you've beaten it as far as the developers intended, also.

No.

I'm farming achievements in WoW though. But that's because I'm a bored 80 and haven't seen 90% of all instances. So the achievement farming is mainly from going through old instances.

I don't buy games just for achievements but it gives you something to do when a games appeal starts to run low.

When I get a game I usually look at the achievements first, and select the doable ones, if they don't require grinding. In either way, enjoing the game comes first.

Never buy a game for achievements, don't see the point as they're not really worth anything.

I mean it's not like we're shooting actual Nazi's out there and putting notches on our barrels.
If they had some impact in the game (or even outside it). That and there are usually ridiculous achievements that are so randomn and arbitrary that they look like WoW grinds...

No, I don't care if the game has an achievement system or not, if it has I'll sometimes try to complete some of them, while others just come while playing the game normal, if it hasn't got an achievement system, it doesn't matter, all I care for is the game itself, the storyline and the gameplay.

Personally i don't play for the achievements and if i pick one up on the way i think isn't that nice. Although i did spend a whole day getting an achievement on little big planet for my boyfriend because he wanted to get ahead of his friend on the ps3.

Do you buy some games just for the achievements, do you just naturally pick them up as you god, DO YOU CARE?
No i would never buy a game just for some achievements. IMO achievement are a great added bonus in game, but when a game is built up around its achievements it totally FAILS!!

Though for those times you just dont feel like following up with that next quest achievements are great fun.
Especially if you get some sort of reward (like titles for instance) for certain achievements.

I don't play for the achievements but I will look for some of them to see what would be an interesting challenge, like completing a campaign on Left 4 Dead using only pistols

Never play a game for their achievements because they don't to jack all to the actual game most of the time. Gamerscore means absolutely nothing and is just an e-peen thing. If achievements actually yielded some sort of relevant award then I'd actually attempt to do them. Aside from that I don't ever bother earning them at all. The only game I know of thus far that I have played that made achievements worth getting is Dissidia: Final Fantasy, since doing them rewards you with items and unlockables. You don't even NEED to do them in order to gain an edge in the game, they are just useful rewards which is how achievements should be.

No. Replay a game for achievements maybe but never buy just for that (and probably never play just for those either).

I really dislike achievements in any single player campaigns as if find they really break imersion, for example in HL2e2 exploring the antlion burrows and squishing every one of those hatchlings totally broke flow and ruined the urgencey of finding a cure for alex. If I'm playing a game that doesn't involved dominating noobs I think they just ruin the fun.

I love achievements. With over 1500 collected can't really say I don't. But I refuse to be the type of person who buys games solely for achievements... i.e Avatar.
All the games I have played I would have played even without the achievements.
Some games, I know i will never have the 1000G's... Damn music rythem games ;)
