Do you steal pencils?

I used to steal everyone's pens at school, but always gave them back (usually when they started looking around to see where it went, but otherwise at the end of the class). Just training my stealth and pickpocket skills, nothing more.
Now I'm usually the one whose pens are stolen, but now I don't get 'em back.

*Hands up* I always stole the pens in Argos; they've changed it to pencils now, but I'm even more in to stealing them.
I always use to steal a pen and stuff in School, purely because I never brought my own in.
ETA: I take the piss when I go to IKEA with their pencils and tape measure. I'm surprised they still give them out for free.

Back at highschool I used to find money and pencils laying around like nothing, I'd always go home ten dollars richer with 5 or 6 extra pens of pencils.
Did I ever intentionally steal them? no.
Am I very observant of my surroundings? yes. ^_^
Honestly though, if someone stole my pencils back then I'd be rather annoyed, not so much cause I felt robbed, but more because I would have given it to them if they had just asked =/

When I went to school, I would always take pencils and stuff if they were on the floor. I would intentionally steal pencils from my friends to annoy them as well.
I also had a backpack that ate my pencils. I would put them in, and never find them again, so I was always in the need of pencils and always too lazy to go buy some at the store.

Not in real life. If somebody forgot it, sure, but I don't consider that stealing. Videogames, however, is a different story. I have hundreds of stolen penicls in Fallout 3 (total klepto).

I tend to treat pens/pencils like money. I'll pick a penny up off the ground, or even a 20 dollar bill if I happen to find one... if it's on the ground and I didn't see someone drop it, it's fair game... same with pens/pencils. I won't pickpocket them from people, or take them off their desk when they aren't looking, but if someone leaves one at their desk (by which I mean school desk, between classes... your desk at work actually belongs to you when you aren't there and is different) I'll pick it up.
Then again, when I lend out pens/pencils I'm not too insistent about getting them back. They are communal property, and as long as everyone who needs to write something has at least one it doesn't seem to be worth stressing over either way. Then again, I feel similarly about most anything I can't find the owner of... I'll check a wallet, a phone, or a flash drive to see if I can find who it belongs to, and I'll use a set of car keys with the beeper on it to find the car and then return them, but if I see a marble, a die, or anything else that interests me lying about I'll definitely just take and keep it... not really stealing.

OH GOD. I've been rumbled. Jimmy dump the stash. Both mechanical and normal just get rid of them.

I pick them up and keep them if they're just lying around or I keep them if I borrow them from school, I'm going to need one tomorrow too after all. I don't just outright steal them from other students though, that's just a bit of a dick move.
No, I always make sure to have my own, and if I don't have my pencil I just use one of my pens instead.
