Do you still read instruction booklets?

Definitely not, I just start playing the game right away. Most games have fairly predictable controls and an idiot-proof tutorial intro, so why hear the same thing twice?

Hell no. Especially not ones like the Call of Duty ones that are literally 8 pages long. Front and back. So it's actually only 4 very small sheets of paper.

Not only that but games have tutorials for everything now.

I'll usually give it a skim when I first get the game, especially if it has something interesting in it besides just the controls, like fake product advertisements or whatever, but I mostly rely on the in-game tutorial to teach me how to play.

Well no - I get all my games from Steam these days, so there's no instruction booklet to be found. Besides, most competent games include an optional tutorial or in game help option that will explain the basics. And even with games that don't have such features, a quick visit to GameFaqs is usually enough to fill you in on anything you might be missing.

Last time I read an Instruction booklet to find out how to play the game was..... geez, uh, Rainbow Six Vega, released way back when in.... 2006, right? And that was due to the fact that the controls were a little complicated.

A men!

Of course, I probably should be paying attention to that road, seeing as I'm driving and all.....
Arch it up between the dashboad and the windscreen. It'll be fine. You dont need to see that side of the road anyway :p

It depends, if it's big I'll probably read it.

Sometimes I'll just read them for the hell of it even if they are useless.

Depends. I will always atleast glance at them, but whether I read them of not depends on the quality (no, I'm not joking. stop laughing!). If it's a black and white 10 page hand-out that tells me the buttons, names of the characters, and suggest I buy the strategy guide (looking at YOU Assassin's Creed 2) I will never look twice.

On the otherhand, if it's a full-color mini-novel that goes into detail about the weapons, enemies, characters, background story, strategies and whatnot, I will certainly look through it, possibly multiple times. I say that the Halo and Fable series' have some of the best booklets out there.

If they stop making booklets, what will I read when I'm dropping the Browns off at the SuperBowl!?!

I always read the instruction book first, it's all also good with instuctions books for games like Red Alert 3 reading about the units and characters.

I find that most booklets have interesting backstory on characters etc. Besides it's something to do on the bus ride home.

I don't read the manual for controller help, as most games stick in a training level to help you with that one (developers presuming that as the years progress kids are less inclined to actually read and need stuff forced into them visually....ahem).

However, I do like to read any short story they put in as a prelude to the game or character bios, weapon/vehicle specifications, etc. Some manuals even include handy hints for those willing to read that can give you a heads-up over other people paying who choose to ignore the manual.

At this point I almost intentionally avoid them so friends will stop asking me stupid questions that the manual answers, and it gets me away from stupid comments like,

"There's a flashlight in Fallout 3?"

Yes, there's a fucking flashlight. I would understand for PC with the chance of direct to drive downloading, but Christ, if you're on a console READ THE DAMN BOOK.

Yes. There are some in-game techniques and detailed plot that isn't explained in the game. Also hints & tips.
