When I sit down and look at my collection of video games I feel like I own ever type of game I possibly could want. After Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3 and The Last Guardian I dont know if I even care if someone makes the next big thing. I haven't even had time to fully beat the last 20 or so games because Im to busy and buying more then I can play. All Im saying is for me I feel like putting away the cash and just kick back for the next several years and enjoy what I got.

Anyone else feeling this way or you cant wait for the next big game to come out?

No not really. I've actually had quite a severe gaming drought for a while now. Not to say there's nothing there, just nothing has peaked my interest enough to buy.

That said, October through March has some awesome titles coming out, so its all good.

Im on the opposite side. I haven't bought many games in a long time, but I'm looking forward to The last guardian, Quantum Conundrum, Darksiders 2, The Witness, Skyward Sword and Ico/Sotc collection.

Haven't brought any game full price for ages. If its good enough i'll pay full price for it, otherwise wait for it or rent it if its short. Skyrim, Lomu Challenge and possibly Arkham City will be full buys, otherwise wait for price cut.

I kind of see where you're coming from. I don't buy too many games now, but part of that is due to a lack of money. So I've learned to squeeze every ounce of enjoyment out of the ones I have.

I think there has been something of a drought of new ideas, but there is still new stuff coming out that i want just little of it. Personally i play for story as much as anything, and repeating an old story really isn't fun.
Plus i just bought and set up a PC to run Blockade Runner, it may be a lot like minecraft, but its new and interesting enough to be fun.
I may be avoiding the AAA titles but there is still fun out there to be had.

Same here actually.
The past couple of years have made me very happy I rent. Plenty of games that seem interesting but none that seem good enough to buy. I just bought my 2nd game this year (Child of Eden) and now that I think about it, it's only the 4th game I've bought since the beginning of 2010.

I too hope that the next few months are as exciting as everyone things they're going to be. I plan on getting Saints Row 3, my wife will probably get MW 3, and we're both hoping that Skyrim will not be a complete mess... but we're not holding our breath.

OP- I do want to buy new games, they just need to start making them worth $60 and start testing them so I can no longer assume that it will be all glitchy and require multiple patches that I may as well wait for.

I buy more games than I can play ... heck, I haven't even started on Bioshock 2 yet, and I bought that on launch.

Not that I care, it's always amusing to have options whenever I'm sick or whatever.

I buy a lot but trying to keep a cap on my collection so trading in a lot as well that I know I won't play again, but I think there is always something new out there to give a try if it looks interesting to me.
Don't want to pay full price for them all but there is still plenty out there I want to get.

Well, I'm always partial to new games. Even if its nearly the same mechanic-wise it probably will be different story-wise or level-wise. Particularly, I am looking for a good new RPG and RTS at the moment (doesn't have to be a "New" game that is, just one I haven't played before.)

I have a list of games I want to buy.
Not because I haven't had time to get around to them.
But because all the games I want aren't out yet.

The games I'm looking forward to right now are Reckoning and Heart of the Swarm. The last $60 game I bought was Starcraft 2, and since then, I've been mainly buying cheaper games about once every 2 months like Avadon, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and Mega Man & Bass.

Really? If anything has caused me to shun certain types of games so violently, is that I own hundreds of games, and still don't own even a portion of the games I'd like to own. I'm an import and retro gamer, most heavily. And I still find myself buying lots of and new games.

For instance, it took me far longer than I'd have to have gotten my hands on a Super Famicom. I got a Super Nintendo when I was about 7 years old. But I'm an import gamer. I wanted to play games like Magical Pop'n for years ethically and lawfully. Plus there's just something special about sitting down with a language you're learning and like.

And I still have several Super Famicom games I'd like to complete my collection. I haven't even finished that and that's an old system.

Much less have I finished my Japanese Sega Saturn collection. Or a Japanese PlayStation 2 collection. Yes, I of course could emulate them. But I want to do the right thing and own them.

In fact, I would like to own several copies of the games I love. Especially if they're new games I can give money to the creators with. I bought 3 copies of Okamiden just because of how poorly the franchise has sold. Capitalism is a battlefield, and I want to make sure that games like Okami do as well as possible, and games like Call of Duty do as badly as possible.

Sure, I'm just one person, I don't make much of a difference. But by that logic, people might as well always pirate and never buy, because they're just one person and their economic contribution to the creators doesn't mean much. Or that people in a democracy should never vote, because they're just one person and can't make much of a difference. I'll make the difference I can make. And there are thousands and thousands more games I want.

Thousands and thousands of titles like Bouken Katsugeki Monomono. I need that game, I really need that game.

Well i'm looking forward to Saint's Row: The Third and I Am Alive, but generally i try to keep my enthusiasm watered since i don't have a PS3 and the 360 exclusives almost all suck.

I desperately want FIFA 12, but not sure when I can justify it for myself in my budget. Mass Effect 3 isn't too far off. I've already paid for Sims 3 Pets, just need it to unlock when the time comes. Steam says a Jurassic Park game is coming out this fall, and I'm hyped for that too. Oh, and friends have already told me that I will be playing TOR at launch with them, and they're buying the game for me to make sure it happens.

So yeah, I still have games coming out that I want.

I could replay what I have now till the end of time but new games are always good to change it up a little. I do tend to really think about my purchases however.

There are many, many great games out already, yes. But there are many more great games coming out (not as many now, sure, but still some).
No, I do not believe that I will stop buying games for a long time.

I have a similar problem. You seem to be busy with the big games of this and last year whereas I am bogged down by the games of yesteryear. I just spent all day yesterday playing Wind Waker. I haven't beaten it yet and this is my first playthough. I played a bit today but moved on to Donkey Kong Country as in, on the Super Nintendo.

The last game I've beaten was Batman Returns on the Super Nintendo and before that was Legend of Zelda on the NES, right after Majora's Mask on the N64. I have several other games waiting on me such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Zelda 2: Link's Adventure and, Duck Dodgers 64 to name a few.

I'm not against buying games new. I have Saint's Row 3 and Skyrim on reserve and I'm looking forward to Marvel Super Hero Squad and, Spider-Man: Edge of Time on the 3DS. I'm more interested, however, in buying games used since that's the only way for me to get new games on the Gamecube - NES without giving Amazon and/or Ebay hundreds of dollars I don't have.

I kind of fear the future though...I fear cloud gaming and, I fear games that require you to be online AT ALL TIMES coming to my consoles.

I've recently been catching up on stuff I've missed for PC gaming. Finally got around to playing COD2 the only COD i hadn't played. Also Monkey Island.

I get the same thing sometimes, but somewhat to a lesser degree. I think this happens to me because the game industry loves the winter period to release games and somehow has an aversion to the warmer months. I end up spending a large wad of cash throughout october-dec on the big game titles, then christmas rolls around and spending for gifts for people I know pretty much wipes out my bank account. After all that I just get the feeling of ugh, I'm damn near broke, and I have a slew of games, I really don't care/want to see anything else for the next few months. I think it would be easier to be a gamer/ I would care about more games if they started spreading out release titles instead of cramming them all into a 3 month period and leaving the rest of the year fairly stagnant.
