Really? If anything has caused me to shun certain types of games so violently, is that I own hundreds of games, and still don't own even a portion of the games I'd like to own. I'm an import and retro gamer, most heavily. And I still find myself buying lots of and new games.
For instance, it took me far longer than I'd have to have gotten my hands on a Super Famicom. I got a Super Nintendo when I was about 7 years old. But I'm an import gamer. I wanted to play games like Magical Pop'n for years ethically and lawfully. Plus there's just something special about sitting down with a language you're learning and like.
And I still have several Super Famicom games I'd like to complete my collection. I haven't even finished that and that's an old system.
Much less have I finished my Japanese Sega Saturn collection. Or a Japanese PlayStation 2 collection. Yes, I of course could emulate them. But I want to do the right thing and own them.
In fact, I would like to own several copies of the games I love. Especially if they're new games I can give money to the creators with. I bought 3 copies of Okamiden just because of how poorly the franchise has sold. Capitalism is a battlefield, and I want to make sure that games like Okami do as well as possible, and games like Call of Duty do as badly as possible.
Sure, I'm just one person, I don't make much of a difference. But by that logic, people might as well always pirate and never buy, because they're just one person and their economic contribution to the creators doesn't mean much. Or that people in a democracy should never vote, because they're just one person and can't make much of a difference. I'll make the difference I can make. And there are thousands and thousands more games I want.
Thousands and thousands of titles like Bouken Katsugeki Monomono. I need that game, I really need that game.
