Do you take the reviews here seriously?

Do you? I have noticed a few occasional threads where people elude to the fact that they hardly give the review any heed, they do not let it effect their buying/viewing decisions, in this case I'm mostly (only) referring to Yahtzee and Movie Bob, so here is the prompt:

Do you take these reviews seriously? Why? (i.e. take them as advise) or are you watching them for the sheer entertainment? and why?

Yahtzee's reviews are more for comedy than anything. I don't really take them seriously.

Movie Bob's tend to be more serious, and I put a little bit of merit into them.

I don't really listen to "real" reviews either. I just read them to get an idea of what a game offers.

In the end, reviews are all opinion based, so take them as such.

The only reviews that I take seriously are the ones that are done by users, and the real reviews done by staff members.
I stopped watching Yahtzee because I don't find him funny anymore, and never watched Moviebob.

I tend to take Yahtzee seriously on what he considers a GOOD game, but on the bad or mediocre game spectrum I've disagreed with him enough times to not take that seriously at all. But he's entertaining, too, so even if I don't care about the game I'll watch it.

I don't think I ever took Yahtzee seriously...
MovieBob I pay some attention to, but mostly go with what friends and family or other community members say.

Yahtzee and I tend to hate the same games.

Yahtzee also hates most of the games I like. His reviews have a cynical, analytical zing to them, and that changed the way I thought about games in general.

This being said, I take the official reviews (not just ZP) very seriously. For example, this site's review of Mario Galaxy 2 spurred me to purchase the game.

I watch ZP for simple shits and giggles. Movie bob generally has some good points, but it is intended to be entertaining. I like to think of all reviews as one person's opinion on the matter. Easy to form your own opinions after you try something for yourself.

I take them seriously, but that doesn't mean they will have a major affect my buying decisions. Alan Wake for example was well reviewed and highly recommended but I still haven't bought it yet because I am not entirely sure it will be worth the full price.

Yahtzee does not do reviews. He is a critic. Anyone who seriously uses him for reference when buying a game is either missing the point or going to have an extremely small gaming library.

I do listen to Yahtzee's reviews in a way. I tend to pay attention to what he picks out as the worst aspects of a game. While the games are never as bad as he says, and he exaggerates a lot, he never outright makes up a fault in a game. So if he calls something out as having a few major flaws, I will pay attention to his criticisms as well as checking out some other user reviews.

The only ones you shouldn't take seriously are Yahtzee's (Zero Punctuation).

How people confuse that for being a proper review I will never know.

Not really. I usually read reviews since they're ways to kill time, especially Yahtzee's, but if I'm interested in a game and a review slanders it chances are that I will still get the game.

I treat moviebob's word like law as I have found that out tastes are very similar.

When it comes to Yahtzee, I ignore his negative reviews and get games about which he is complimentary,

I pretty much just watch ZP out of boredom and for comedy. Moviebob, on the other hand, has very similar tastes to mine so I pretty much see anything he says is good, even GI Joe. Loved that movie.

Yahtzee and movie bob aren't reviewers, they are critics. Their job is to provide critique of their respective media.
