Do you take the reviews here seriously?

I take Ys reviews with a grain of salt every single time cause it is not like we have the same taste. He likes GH for one thing. But I trust both him and MovieBob to find things in games and movies that I usually do not catch. I always trust their final judgment and they haven't disappointed this far.

About the written reviews of the Escapist Staff, I always give them a read but someone still needs to apologize about that god-forsaken Infamous review which has to be THE WORST I HAVE EVER RED.

With Yahtzee's reviews, I can usually tell if he gave a thumb up or a thumb down, though I haven't yet bought or not bought a game based on a review of his. With MovieBob, I generally know if I'm going to see a movie or not before I hear what he has to say. Besides, I disagree with almost half of his reviews anyway so I generally don't pay heed. I still enjoy his reviews though.

both Yahtzee and MovieBob have similarly high standards to my own, and we only differ on a select few issues

eg. I like Halo Wars and HATE Paranormal Activity

Yahtzee is a comedy writer who makes some good points. Of course I don't take his reviews seriously.

MovieBob, though, doesn't just hate everything. He's a reviewer, not a critic. However, I think he likes too many movies that come out. Off the top of my head, he's recommended Wolfman, The Informant!, and Splice. All three of those are terribly filmed movies.

But then again, it is opinion. And otherwise he's pretty good.

I like using Yahtzees reviews of games i haven't bought to get the feel of what its about, rather than an opinion.

As for bob, i like his take on things - his reviews cover some great angles of how the industry works as well as talking about weather or not the film succeeded in what it hoped to achieve.
I actually watched UP because of his review/ - so yeah, i guess i do take him seriously.

Yahtzee i take with a pinch of salt, knowing that when he is right, he is DAMN RIGHT, but remembering he can miss the mark.
e.g. The analysis of New Super Mario Bros Wii was great and i agree, his opinion of Monster Hunter Tri however i can't find myself to empathise with. At All.
I've never bought/not-bought a game on Yahtzee's reccomendation.

I take Yahtzee's reviews half-seriously, because he really has some smart things to say when he isn't using his trademark sarcasm. His Extra Punctuation Articles are certainly more straight-faced than his video reviews anyway.

All the other reviews, such as MovieBob and the normal game reviews I take more seriously as criticism.
