1)Of course they are. Every female gamer that I've met has been proficient in their preferred style of games. Some are even better than I, and I classify myself as an above average gamer in about everything I play.Isla said:1)But do you consider girls good gamers?
2)Do you think they are as good as boys?
3)Do you mind facing a girl online?
2) Theoretically yes. The only issue here stems from the fact that large percentages of male and female gamers have a tendency to play different games. As you said, you don't play shooters, and prefer RPGs. Well the lions share of guys tend to prefer shooters because it appeals to their male nature. It's not that guys don't play every type of game, we're just more experienced in blowing stuff up.
But once you find opposite genders playing the same game, you find it becomes merely a matter of experience. This is where the stereotype of "girls suck at games" comes from. By the time most girls play the more male-directed games, the male players have gained experience in he game's mechanics, and as such have an advantage over the female player.
So yeah, theoretically equal in terms of skills. Practically not in terms of experience.
3)I love facing a girl online. As girls do tend to think differently about what they experience than guys, it provides a unique perspective that I wouldn't normally see about the game. And as stated before, they're just as capable of kicking my butt up and down the block as any guy gamer I've played. And I do love a challenge.
