Well assuming that we don't kill each other in a nuclear war for stupid reasons, like "my god is better than yours" I highly doubt than in 6 billion years we are going to be still humans, if we are still alive we would have evolved into something (hopefully) more advanced. Additionally, we are currently living what I like to call "Adolescense of reason" in the sense that collectively we are not a fully developed intelligent species (if we were we would not be killing each other), once we grow up (again as a species, an individual can be smart) we would probably begin the Cosmos exploration.
The 1 million years comes from the fact that most species have a lifetime of around 1 million years give or take. This of course doesn't mean that the species are gone for good often it will just have evolved into another species.||XIII said:

Well, to this day governments still choose to back stab and conspire against one another. I really don't see a unified Global populace that aims to tackle our problems in the present or the future (Environment, Conflict, Depleted resources). Besides, I don't think the globe can sustain us forever.||XIII said:

Pssh. We'll be building our own artificial planets by then. And making our own suns. And enslaving alien races. And mastering the Space Jet Pack. In fact, we'll probably just be like the Combine by then. (No, they don't have Space Jet Packs. That's what makes us more awesome then them.)
We're slightly useless at getting along, so no worries, we don't have to concern ourselves with planning for that.
Plus, we keep birthing too many people, and no one will do anything about it. We don't even have to kill anyone for it to work too, honest!
