So my dear friends. the new PREY coming next year and has potential to be one hell of the game if they done right. Hated prey 2 version that was cancelled but new prey won me over. planetscape tourment writer is working on this game too so expect amazing story too. the game being inspired by system shock is huge plus for me. Im not really impressed by dishonored 2 much but for prey, Arkane has NAILED it.

after Deus Ex, System shock, Stalker. do you think this game will follow the footstep of these games?

I want Prey 2 to actually continue Prey 1's story...cause otherwise the IP is pointless.

I think it will follow in the footsteps of Quantum Break.

Hard to call though since, y'know, we haven't seen anything beyond a pre-rendered trailer and a lacklustre one at that.

The devs have shown next to nothing about Prey so far, hell, we're not even quite sure what kind of game it really is aside from a few catch-phrase from the PR. As much as I've enjoyed Arkane's games in the past I'll have to wait for actual gameplay and more concrete information before I judge the game.

With that said I'm super disappointed that this is 'Prey' in name only. The original concept of a surreal alien invasion with a Native American mythological twist was then and remains now super unique and intriguing. I'd have vastly prefered the devs find some way to work with continuing that theme rather than the current vague details we know of the plot.

Finally it's Planescape, not Planetscape, and Chris Avellone has worked on tons of games, some amazing some not so much, so his presence is hardly a guarantee of anything.

Based on what exactly? What the devs have said? Some names attached to the project? Pffft, you got played dude. Never, ever, EVER buy into hype like this.

No, I don't think it will be, nor should anyone else.

A month long break and your first thread is on the E3 game with the absolute least amount of info available?

There's nothing to go on. Complete void. Absolutely nada. There's so little info that speculation is completely impossible, as that implies whatever people are saying is based somewhat on fact. I'd call it 'Divination.' Because it's about as accurate and helpful as using a dowsing rod.

We simply don't know enough about the game. Heck, we haven't even established what engine the game is running on yet. (Likely either Void or CryEngine, but there's been zero confirmation.)

Are you clairvoyant?
Because you're seeing a hell of a lot that doesn't quite exist until we get more information.

At the very least, hyperbole is alive and well.

You mean that cinematic trailer they released?

Whatever one feels about Dishonoured aside, I'm not sure what's been shown to indicate that they "nailed" anything.

Every game has the potential to be one hell of a game if done right. It's just a shame that few are.

As for Prey 2, I remain unconvinced. I hope they've removed the horrible death mechanic that sucked all challenge from the game by making the player effectively immortal. Did anyone, and I mean anyone, ever fail to kill enough of those wraith things before the timer ran out?

Anyhow, useless speculation is useless. Too few details have been released for any kind of meaningful judgement to be made. To be fair, I hope it is good. I hope it does follow on from the events of the first game and I hope we get to explore the lore and mythology more deeply. Time will tell I guess.

Diskussss. Deshkoos. Desskooos. Dekus! On that barely tangible connection, I'd say Prey 2 is as good as a deku. And I shall not accept any other point of view. So shoo! Be gone with you! Why am I still here? Must get back on track my dear. I have a mountain of irrefutable evidence that proves Prey 2 will be awwwwesome! And I mean the "awwwwesome" that has been watered down by the internet and bloody annoying teenagers that basically means "ok."
So there you have it. That fact is objectively irrefutable.

...

Oh, you want to see my evidence? Sorry, my hands are tied. Quite literally. You really don't want to know how I'm typing this, it will disturb you beyond repair. I also have a gagging order. It is like political BDSM here. But at least the pay's good!

Prey 2 will be yet another over-hyped train wreck. How do I know this? Pattern recognition.

So far it looks like that X-Com game that had nothing to do with X-Com.

I was a fan of the first Prey, so call me when some information comes out about gravity manipulation, organic weaponry, teleportation and/or strange Native American ghost things (seriously this needs to be answered) because these are some of the things that made the game for me.

Nope. Original concept for Prey 2(hey look, A NUMBER) was better.

I cant stand that bounty hunter version plus now they have MUCH bigger team in arkane who knows how to make immersive sim. unless human head studio which only consist of 30 people. old prey 2 always looked terrible. and was about to failed as a result bathesda cancelled the game.

new prey will be rival to Deus Ex and System shock.

Ah I've missed these. I'm surprised you've played 'Planetscape' (sic). But yes I am looking forward to it, although like everyone's said there's nothing to base any judgements off atm.

I dunno, thinking of the games I've played and looking at a list of one's he's been involved with, they generally had a decent narrative, and range up to an extraordinary narrative. The games themselves some may not be the best, but I think it's hard to argue against someone saying an Avellone written game will at least have a good narrative imo.

So far, there's only a cinematic trailer and a vague outline for what type of game it's going to be. That's not very little to go and the only reason to think it'll be a succesful new entry in the open-leveled fps/rpg hybrid genre is that Arkane already made a pretty good one with Dishonored. Which is still not a guarantee.

For some reason Planetscape makes me imagine a Planetside type game set in the Planescape setting. A somewhat weird combo, I know, but not entirely unappealing.

Enforcer or The Bureau? I haven't seen the preview (and never finished the first Prey), but I would note that both of those games were at least based on interesting ideas.

I was on about The Bureau but Enforcer works too. The Bureau was an interesting idea, but it wasn't X-Com as far as I'm concerned, they should have left the X-Com title alone and just gone with The Bureau: Declassified, they would have got less flak from X-Com fans and probably would have been considered a better game if it wasn't being held to compete with a completely different game.

I feel the same way about the new Prey and the old Prey 2 trailer, if it doesn't have the things from the first game that made the first game unique then why use the Prey title? It could be an awesome game, but piggybacking on an old, mostly forgotten title isn't going to help it much.

It's like if they followed Halo up with Halo 2 being game of the year about some random guy in WW2. May be game of the year but it doesn't change the fact that its not really Halo, especially after the first game left of hinting at a continuation.

I could be completely wrong though, as all we've seen is a pre-rendered trailer that doesn't really show anything about the game yet, so I could be wrong about it having nothing to do with the original Prey.
