Do you think Reach will be the last Halo game?

Of course not. That's like asking if Sega's latest Sonic game is going to be the last, or if Capcom's Street Fighter series is ending at 4.

Yes.
Do I think it will be?
No.
QTF, man. Q.F.T.
Same reason why I almost cried when Sony Santa Monica said that God of War 3 probably won't be the last of the franchise.

i think it was stated that it will be the last halo game that revolves around the war against the covenant, but not the last halo game made.

Answer in the article is a little vague, but I have heard the Bungie team is growing tired of the Halo franchise. Now that they're split from Microsoft, I wouldnt be surprised if this is it from Bungie. As for the money angle, given the popularity of Bungie, their next game will be a hit regardless.

It will be bungie's last halo game, but microsoft may continue it. I hope bungie doesn't let them though. I'd would like to see what bungie will do next.

Dear God...there's so much money left to be made, but storyline they've got nowhere to go anymore. So I think they should end it, but Microsoft is a corporation...thus, money needs to be made...
What the hell? Storyline they have plenty more to go. There's the cliffhanger regarding Master Chief and Cortana at the end of Halo 3, cliffhanger regarding the Spirit of Fire at the end of Halo Wars, not to mention all the various plots covered by the books that could potentially be expanded on. For instance, I'd love to see a game dealing with Sgt. Johnson and the other Spartan-Is, and the Insurrection. Or a game based around one of the suicide missions that the Spartan-IIIs underwent...

OT: No, it won't be the end. And I hope it isn't either, Halo is a good thing and I thoroughly enjoy it. The haters don't need to play it, so their complaints are nothing but idiotic flames. I really hope that this isn't the end, definitely :).
Yeah, true, but think of it from the Hollywood perspective: Alot of endings disappoint. This could be one of them.
No offense to you or Halo, I enjoy it's multiplayer with my cousin and it's fun levels. I just think that if they end it after Reach it really wouldn't be all that bad.

I hope so, I seriously doubt that any of us will like any Halo game after reach.

Seriously, if Reach ends up being fucking awesome like we hope, just end that way!!! With a bang!!! Don't tarnish the success with a half-assed successor!
yes...word

maybe spin-offs from their former benevolent dictator

but as far as Bungie goes...this is starting and finishing the fight!

I don't think MS will let the franchise die its just too lucrative they'll just pass it on to another company.

If it sells the way the other Halo games sell, which it will, then it will not be the last. Last by Bungie? That's more likely, but I say no.

From Bungie, yes this is indeed their last Halo project, hence why they are pouring every concievable idea into the game.
However in the long run, I doubt it. I as a fan myself wouldn't mind seeing the series come to an end given that the actual trilogy concluded ages ago but hey I can't stop things from happening so I won't ***** about it.
You never know, the other ones might be alright.

Reach IS a prequel
I think that just about shows how much I stopped caring...

My bad anyway, should've at least read the info on Reach. Just can't seem to care anymore...

Does show how obvious it is to keep milking a series after it has ended. To much these days, too much...

This. Apparently this is the last Halo that's gonna be made by Bungie. 343 Studios has the rights to make games too though, and they will I'm sure.

just to respond to all the speculation, BUNGIE will stop making halo FOR AWHILE, they left a cliffhanger in Halo 3 just in case they want to start the SUCCESSFUL part of the franchise again... oh and to agree with everyone else, yes Microsoft (with their soulless, Pitiless hearts)will milk this cow till blood replaces milk... cause that's just how they work

TBH i don't give a damn about this anymore, they shoulda quit with ODST, because the hill bungie's falling down is only getting steeper with every attempt to drag out this dead material

That said, Reach looks good and will probably be a great fps

It will be like the Sonic franchise. The original Sonic Team is no longer making the games, just like Bungie the original Halo creators will be no longer making the games. The games will decline into crap and yet will still be pushed out year after year by the new creators because idiots keep buying it. Once the idiots finally start learning how bad it is getting, they will start releasing spin-offs untill the entire thing is as worn as Mario.
Mario only works because the same developers during the NES days are still working on it. If someone else got a hold of Mario, it would go down the drain very rapidly. Why do franchises decline with new developers? The new developers are all fans and try to live up to the old games and don't try to exceed them.
Yahtzee said it best in the Monkey Island review.
