Do you think spiders would be scary if they had less legs?

I was just thinking about spiders and I was wondering what made them so scary...they have eight legs, but so do scorpions and I like scorpions not scared of them at all. Spiders are venomous but so are most bugs and arachnids...fire ants are technically venomous too but I don't find them unnerving...So if your scared of spiders spiders what is it you find scary about them? Personally I just find the way they move creepy they are really fast.

No. They'd still be scary to me. Very, very scary.

Well, I love spiders personally. I keep one as a pet in my screen room to eat the mosquitoes.

It's not the legs, it's the eyes... and the chitin, and the... oh I could go on, but suffice it to say "nope, they'd still creep me the fuck out."

Its the face that sets me off mostly. So I tend to be fine with the tiny spiders, but if the body is bigger than my little fingernail, then either it or me will go. Usually me.

I'm fairly certain that arachnophobes would still be afraid regardless.

What makes a spider creepy... the way they move, hairiness, eyes and hunting method. Why can't they be cuddly like rabbits?

yes. they also need to be slower and larger. i'm a massive arachnophobe, but i'm ok with being near tarantulas and seeing them under laser-microscopes.

Spiders are scary to me because of the time when I got bit by one. I doubt them having less legs would change that much.

I don't find spiders scary, but I imagine people who do would still think they were, even if they had fewer legs.

It's because of their weirdly shaped body, their many black eyes, and their fangs. Combine that with their size and that they are common in houses all around the world (but can easily hide), and that results in many people being afraid of them.

You hurt his feelings, I think you should apologize.

What really gets me is walking into the webs.

For me, it's the fact that they're always so... stiff, and quiet, and... motionless that scares me.

Removing their legs would... actually scare me more.

No, less legs probably would just make it creepier because then we'd all go, "ZOMG A SPIDER WITH ONLY 2 LEGS! KILL IT WITH FIRE!'

I want to kill it with a shotgun. And fire. Then a orbital bombardment.
