Gears of war is a TPS I think it was haven't played it in forever.9_6 said:Are you one of those people that keep calling gears of war a "FPS" too?GrimHeaper said:...making it the one of best RTS
RTS = Real Time Strategy. You know, no breaks. Real time.
It's turn based. You take turns. TBS.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no. It's not an RTS. The more accurate term would be a Tactical Turn Based.Akalistos said:RTS mean real time strategy but yeah, that's the Japanese version of it. It's half turn base and half move your all your soldier in at once. Don't blame me, blame Japan.
Real-time strategy (RTS) is a sub-genre of strategy video game which does not progress incrementally in turns
Osaka117 said:Wow, if anything he should review that Metal Wolf Chaos game. Intrigued by the fact that it was a game only released in Japan but featuring all English voice acting, I watched most of the opening cutscenes from the game, and holy shit was that insane.
For anyone who doesn't wanna bother watching them, the basic premise of the game is that Michael Wilson, the 47th president of the United States, flies around in a giant mech "saving America" from a group of rebels trying to over through the government led by the vice president, Richard Hawk.
Yahtzee could have a field day with that. Especially because it's filled with cheesy voice acting and a crazy over the top nonsensical plot, in very Japanese fashion. It's gotta be the most American and patriotic game not to be made by America. And another weird fact, it's an Xbox exclusive. How many original Xboxs sold in Japan? Like 5 if you wanna be generous, so that just makes it more crazy that a game like that was made.
Yeah, but Xbox is a western console, and it was competing against the Japanese consoles the Gamecube and PS2. And if that wasn't bad enough, Xbox was Microsoft's very first console and had no reputation, while the Japanese were obviously very familiar with Nintendo and Sony. So to say the Xbox didn't stand a chance would be a gross understatement.Dreiko said:It's not about Xbox as it is about western games in general.
Idol Master 2 FAR outsold Killzone 3 last week in Japan...and the former is a psp game while the latter is a ps3 one.
Yeah, it's not mainstream enough.s69-5 said:Disgaea is comedic enough that it doesn't require a roasting from a comedian.
Besides it's a JRPG (which he hates) and it's of the SRPG variety, which I doubt he has the patience and/or skill to play.
A PS2 Greatest Hit title (Disgaea 1) isn't "mainstream" enough?rekabdarb said:No, he doesn't like jrpg and this game isn't 'mainstream' enough.
Can't find anything on TTB online. Some site still describe it as a JRTS or just RTS. Anyways you call it, it's a genre that I can't stand. And Disgaea is even worst.Chibz said:Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no. It's not an RTS. Yeah Disgaea is categorized as a Strategy Role Playing Game everywhere I look.Dreiko said:I've never heard of TTB either lol. I know it's not RTS but just "Srpg" has been sufficient enough characterization.
