I can trust them as far as I can throw...which, since their virtual is not very far.

I trust independed gaming reviews but never huge websites. Situation like Kayne & Lynch and the whole Tomb Raider keep me as far away as possible, and that's just the ones we know about.

Plus I'm almost certain most game reviewers are scared of their fan base. No other group gets as much rage when their favourite game is bashed like gamers do. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys receive death threats for giving MW2 a 9 instead of 10.

Not since after the Kane and Lynch fiasco do I trust Gamespot.
I'll ocassionally read IGN's reviews.

However, I usually always go to Metacritic.

Nope. I trust no site. My opinions on a game generally differ greatly from a reviewer's (ex: Shadow Hearts, game got some pretty low reviews from some sites, but I loved it). I just use them to make sure the game I've wanted for so long I'm probably buying it anyway doesn't have any crippling flaws. Even then, unless it's game-breaking, I usually at least rent it regardless.

I use Metacritic and alot of research before I buy a game. I'd also read an IGN review the odd time.

I do watch the ign video reviews (i'm too lazy to read) and I take them into consideration, but they gave Dark Sector a quite good review and after playing 3 levels I got bored. In addition, I also don't like most CoD games and I beleived that Fallout 3 was worse than Oblivion, eventhough it got a lower score. Basically, I look at reviews to get a feel for the game but I make my own mind up.

Generally their opinions are sound and balanced so yes I do trust them, but not to the subversion of my own preconceptions

If I'm interested in a particular game, I'll watch half a dozen reviews (I find them entertaining :D), and look at Metacritic and some gameplay.

Then I shall decide.

I trust metacritic which is kind of like a collective of those sites. Also GiantBomb is trustworthy because it started because gamespot fired someone for reviewing a game that advertised on the site bad. So a lot of the truthful editors from gamespot are there now.

Oh hey, look at that [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/reviews/]! ;)
lol I'm ashamed I have been here 6 months I have never clicked that tab :)

OT: I dont usually read IGN etc because I dont trust em they never want to slam games because they might not get their exclusive footage etc the next time around, the nail in that coffin for me was watching an IGN review for Wet that was blatently looking very hard for nice things to emphasise and skipping over the many many many shit aspects of the game. The reviews here are pretty solid and but the forums and of course ZP are where I will make my buying decisions :)

I don't take reviews at face value. They're a decent way to see how much some people could take the game, but it's never an end all-be all. Gameplay videos work well.

I usually know what I want to buy at least a year before its released. I am never disappointed with my purchases.
