Wut? Friends? I'm a GAMER!!! I have no friends except my computer.

OT: Friends are friends, no matter if they are on the internet or not. It's the same (but opposite) with assholes; you don't talk to them IRL, and you don't talk to them online.

It all comes down to trust. And I'm old fashioned, so I trust everyone! xD

Mine are my enemies whose movements I like to be able to track.

I normally add people if we had a good debate (been while actually) and do occasionally see what they've commented on and see if it's my cup o'tea
"Keep yyour friends close and your enemies closer"
As close as possible as you can over the internet, hey I want to watch my enemies but still a bit of a coward
i'd be a coward to if one of my enemies was a giant shark

I have few "real" friends in the "real" world, and, oddly, I rarely, if ever, have them friended on a website. I don't think that's intentional, just that the things I do online rarely intersect with what I do offline. Even my D&D buddies, only a couple are linked in on my Twitter account (and I could only get one of them to be a FourSquare.com friend.)

No, and no.
And no, I don't talk to people. They talk to me.
Wait, that didn't make any sense.
...
I think I'll just be off to play Mass Effect 2.

I'm a bit of a lurker around these parts, so I didn't even realise there was a 'friends' function on The Escapist.

My steam friends list (like my others on facebook, messenger etc) contains only people who I know in real life.

I have a ton of friends on here. People past and present. I used to add a lot when I first joined, mostly becuase I was new and people like Eggo and FishFoodCarl really made impressions on me.

I think I maybe the only person that did not add Max, it was the other way around. We just (suprisingly) never really crossed paths, then I think he added me after a review.

I talk to as many of my friends as I can remember to talk to. I have a close group of maybe something like 40 friends on here that I talk to almost weekly.

I do get random adds, but I usually PM them back and try to start a convo. I make a lot of funny/silly posts, so people like to add me on the "WOuld take out for a beer" concept that I did when I joined as well.

Though as of late I have kind of forgotten about the add feature. I would a long relationship with someone and find out a week later that I never added them as friends. I just sort of forget.

Welcome to The Escapist by the way! It's tradition to do some sort of welcoming thing.

Here's your bible, study it well, and enjoy your stay.

Oh, and seriously, stay away from this fucker.

Have a good one! Don't feed the trolls!
Oh come on, Furburt, I've seen this joke like 80 times in a week.
Gaah.

I have a few people on my friends list I keep regular contact with. Either because I know them in real life or they're really nice people.

I have had some sort of contact with all the people on my list... I don't regularly talk to any of them, though. With one exception, all the people on my list have added me first, so I added them in return.

Out of curiousity, why does everyone assume new people don't read the rules themselves until someone points them out for them? It's fairly common procedure that you check out the pinned topics of a forum you start frequenting, regardless of whether or not anyone tells you to. For all you know, he could've read through it already.

I have successfully avoided "adding" and friends on the Escapist (does no-one else see that as a weird choice of verb?) because to be honest there haven't been that many people I've had particularly good conversations with. Clearly I just don't spend enough time here.

Of the eight people who have "added" me I know one very well face to face and haven't had a single chat with the others since the one where I impressed them suitably for them to add me as a friend.
