Do you whistle?

I just went to the shop and on my way I came across a young man walking down the street whistling a jaunty abstract tune.

It really cheered me up and then made me sad when I realised that I can't remember the last time I heard somebody whistle a tune in public. I am pretty sure in my younger years it was not an uncommon occurrence, sadly I can do little to help bring whistling back into the public as I cannot whistle myself.

How about you? Do you whistle? Do you often hear whistlers whistling their little tunes?

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa....whoa........whoa...............whoa..........................whoa

You can't whistle?

I always assumed the only person who couldn't whistle was Ellie from The Last of Us and that's because it was the post-apocalypse. I wonder how common that actually is...

Anywho, I am constantly whistling and making noises. I listen to music at work and so most of the time, when I get up to go do something, I just continue the song I was listening to myself.

Whistle for the sake of whistling? Not really. Though, I will whistle along when I'm listening to a song with whistling in it.

Now I feel even worse, I always assumed non-whistlers were common. I did try really hard to learn a couple of years ago but my family staged an intervention after I nearly fainted from hyperventilation.

Well don't feel too bad, you could very well be correct and MY assumption is the wrong one. Now I'm curious about that. Wish there was a poll on this thread to find out but all well :)

Don't feel bad, I can't whistle either. My boyfriend says when I try I sound like a rather pathetic kettle going off.
It doesn't bother me much, I find whistling a little bit annoying. It's okay now and then, I suppose.

And I do admire those who can do that really loud whistle that you do with the fingers in your mouth.

Alas I don't think I can add a poll now. We have at least one other non-whistler.

I think it's fairly common to not be able to whistle, presumably the same as some people can't roll their tongues (I can).
Wait, I have to roll my tongue to whistle? I can do that but I had no idea it was part of the process. Am baffled.

HA, when I was editing to fix the quotes I realised I was baffled by Baffle. Hilarious.

I whistle from time to time. Sometimes I'll quietly whistle or hum or sing (depending on my mood) along to whatever song is playing on, say, the grocery store speakers, or the muzak at work, or yes, while walking down the street.

It helps pass the time, and music is awesome.

I love to whistle. Just nonse though. Stuff that sounds good to me that often has no relation to a song. I can't do the finger whistle though. I also thought it was very common for people to whistle, but I do know a few people who can't whistle, which I think kinda sucks but thems the kicks.

I have deathwishes against people who whistle.

Of course, it's all part of my evil plan. When I have the whistlers against my side, they'll all be crushed by the girl scouts.

I don't whistle, but I do occasionally find myself humming along if a song that I enjoy plays on the radio at work. There is a guy that I work with who is always whistling random, abstract snippets of various tunes and it is quite fun trying to guess what he is whistling.

I too am unable to whistle. Never was I meant to be a perv who would whistle as hot passer-bys. *tear*

OT: As stated above, I don't know how to whistle or lack whatever sort of super genes that enable that skill. But, I can move both my eye-brows independently. Ladiesssss...

Believe it or not, up until fairly recently there was a common belief that not being able to whistle somehow equated to homosexuality. For some reason.
