They tend to avoid them because they get hooked on them. My dad's gotten hooked on all the Call of Duties (which he sucks at) and my mum was brilliant at Age of Empires.

Yes, I currently live at home. We have 3 computers set up in the same room with a household network. My father, stepmother, and I all maintain our own seperate accounts for a few MMORPGs and actually play them together with some frequency, heading out as a team.

Generally speaking they aren't very good at it (Lol) but they are pretty into at times. They also play other games, but are mostly into MMORPGS right now, even when I'm not there (or when I'm raiding, which they are not really into despite the fact that my stepmother did it in EQ) they seem to spend a lot of their free time playing online together.

My parents pick up the controller and hit buttons but I'm not really sure if you can call it playing. They usually get lost trying to figure out what to do and forget what button does what.

my father is a big fan of Splinter Cell, so to fuel my addictive habit with it i'm going to go introduce him to Metal Gear Solid, excuse me...yeah, he's hooked

My mum loves the old Sega/SNES games, but nothing newer because she doesn't like the 'complex' control systems for the newer game systems, and my Dad's never been into the gaming thing.

My dad plays a hand full of games. Red Alert 2, Gran Turismo, L4D, WW2 shooters, older Genesis games. Things like that.

My Mom? Playing Video Games? HA HA! Ha ha ha. No. She can't stand the graphics for some reason. Something to do with her eyes.
My Dad doesn't either but he likes to have an interest in the ones I play. Or so I think.

I wish.
My dad's almost sixty and my mother couldn't tell a melee button from a grenade-throw button.

Apparently before I was born, my dad had an addiction to a variation of Ski Free. He played some Mario when he bought the NES in 1988, but since I was kicking his ass at Mario when I was 3, he thought it best to get out of gaming. To be totally honest, I don't think he'd be all into the immersive gaming of today. I'm sure he'd say there is too much conversation and too many buttons. My mom only plays those handheld card game things.

My Dad is somewhat anti-game (with the possible exception of the Wii and lightgun games) and my Mum's attempts at playing games are somewhere between laughable and pathetic (one posesses the ability to play them well but not the will and the other has the will to play them but not the ability).

I wish my parents played video games. My mom can't even hold a controller properly, let alone complete an objective. Plus, she doesn't like all the killing in games like CoD4.

The one game she did LOVE was Sheep Raider for the PS1 (I don't know how many people have heard of that game). The only problem was that she couldn't control it, so I had to actually play it while she figured out the puzzles (with my help).

My mom likes some Wii games (mostly Wii fit) and likes casual games. On an analog note, she can take ridiculous handicaps in Boggle and still hand my ass to me, and I'm known as a walking dictionary around town.

My dad likes the Command and Conquer games, and also plays Diablo 1 and 2. And, of course, he's determined to get better than me at Guitar Hero. Fat chance.

My stepdad doesn't play games and my stepmom will only play GH or Rock Band after she's had a few. Though all four of my parents like to shoot pool, if that counts for anything, which it should since they can all four kick my ass.

Eh, my parents play the Wii. Well basically just Wii sports and Wii fit. Does that count?
