WTF r they doing to doctor who
Thank you for this insightful and well-constructed post.
Care to enlighten us on "WTF" you mean?
What i meant by this was the fact they are just getting lazy
e.g. the aliens working on the genesis device
First looked like the one off the last Christmas special. i mean heaven forbid that they use some of the creativity to make any new aliens like they used to do.
Now onto the major parts of the story that annoyed me firstly even though they explained how the master was killing people they never fully explained how ?life force? can make you fly and fire bolts of it like lighting. Another stupid thing was when they got a DNA sample of the master from his x-wife the DNA signature would most likely have been destroyed or corrupted a long time before they actually took it from her lips. Finally even though the time lords retuning interest me I didn?t feel that they explained it properly how this happened. These are just some of the many things about that episode that made me say ?WTF? it that good enough tomtom94 or do you want some more reasons for my previous statement.

WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?!

That was my reaction to the end

I mean WTF?
I know, it was a little sudden at the end. but that's how clever the team that made Doctor Who are. It was so unexpected, that I think most people are going to watch the next one simply to understand what the hell happened. I sure am.
I suppose,i just hope there's a good reason for their return not just a "oh we were having breakfast"

Shame that it's Tennant's last episode,i have a feeling the new guy will be pish
You know Doctor Who, common sense and reasoning is completely out of the question. It's a world where even death can't stop you from making a cameo.
That's a fair point

Though when you think about it it seems pretty obvious they survived,I mean, quite a few Daleks survived
Sorry, don't watch the series regularly. Daleks are those things with plungers on their faces, right?
EXTERMINATE!

These things:

Ah, thought so.

I really didn't like the end of the episode. While it was obvious that The Master would use the machine, I was really hoping they would use it as an excuse to bring back the Time Lords either by having the machine be one that tore a hole in reality, or by The Master using his genetic code and mind to change the Earth into a new Gallifrey. The idea of putting up with a Doctor Who episode with everyone on Earth being John Sim, even though we get Donna and the Time Lords back, is not a pleasent one.

The return of the Time Lords is something I've been expecting for a while (wish I'd nipped to the betting shop now!) and I suppose the fact they are essentially rebooting everything next series meant bringing them back now was the best time as it would mean Stephen Moffet would have them to use. Also, who wants to bet that the women who appears to Wilfred is The Rani?
i assumed she was the woman with the red fingernails who took the ring and she was helping the master in a tag-team of evil, but since that woman's dead that's not going to be the case... beyong that i'm hoping she's the rani, not just some random... although having her AND all the timelords back will make it less significant (not less significant that they're all back, just that she is)

Not really looking forward to the new doctor... sure they released a good, dark photo of him that is amazing and shows massive potential, but then he chose his outfit and ITS A BLOODY BOW TIE AND SUSPENDERS!!!! that look/similar was fine with some other doctors but its just rediculous on him... the dark version of him would be good because it would reflect the realisations he had in the waters of mars (despite the fact that they'll probably be fixed in the end of time). Taking him back to bowtie/suspenders/tweed jacket or whatever seems like a massive step back personality wise

It was enjoyable but it seemed so much more cheesy and campy than usual.
The masters wierd flesheating, superjumping, lightning throwing powers. The several shots of Obama from behind or with his hands covering his face. The cheesy voiceover from Timothy Dalton. The unbelieveably stupid plot to turn everyone into the master combined with the unbeleviably stupid special effect that did it. The idea of a group of OAPs tracking down the Doctor and of course the canon-defieng return of the Time Lords
All these things just seem to cut it down in my opinion.

With such a massive storyline they seriously should have put some real work in. It even seemed like someone writing a lame parody of Doctor Who in some scenes!

The Master, (John Simms) isn't he dead? I did watch that one.
Oh, he's been finding ways to cheat death since forever! I think he once survived being executed by the daleks by, and I quote, "taking on the form of a small, snake-like entity".
If you are indeed quoting correctly, oh my god! I can't even think of things to describe how I feel about that, it is so absurd! I don't watch Doctor Who regularly, so I haven't seen that one, but I don't think that's why I feel confused.
It's not a recent one, it was a 1996 television film. Made as an attempt to restart the series after it was cancelled. However, I'm a little unsure as to if it's considered canon or not...
No, it's regarded as a spinoff. Otherwise Matt smith is the last doctor.
*puts on nerd hat*
It's canon. Otherwise Paul McGann's Doctor (one of my favourites, despite the shittiness of the film itself) wouldn't have appeared in the infostamp in "The Next Doctor". However, trying to reconcile it with the rest of the canon does mess with the old brain a bit.

Also, Matt Smith is the eleventh Doctor - since he can regenerate a total of twelve times, there'll be another two before he finally dies.

Did anyone feel like they just ripped off the potential ending of "The Empty Child" (Humanity becoming the same) and thought
This is so original

Also why the fuck does the master have super powers.

When I first saw Eccleston regenerate into Tennant I thought: "Oh god! This new guy looks terrible, there is no way he's ever gonna live up to Eccleston!"
Clearly you didn't watch Casanova beforehand.
Very true, it's only recently that I got around to watching it. My point was that we should wait until we actually see Smith's performances before judging. We might be pleasantly surprised.

Bernard Cribbins may just very well be another Time Lord?

ROWAN ATKINSON FOR 12th DOCTOR.
Rowan Atkinson played the doctor in a charity episode, you can find it on Youtube somewhere.

Anyways, it's held my interest at least.

I only watched the movie: Dr. Who and the Daleks.

and frankly, from what I heard about the TV show, I thought it would've been more interesting if they portrayed the Doc like they did with the movie.

But I'm honestly curious about what you Dr. Who fans here think about that idea.

I really lost interest in Doctor Who after a while and this episode didn't help much, but at least it had Timothy Dalton in it.

13th. Considering that the assumed limit a time lord can regenerate is 12 times, then the 13th Doctor would be the last one. And I'd like to see the entire series end with a great Doctor.
The 13th Doctor was a villain in the old series, known as The Valeyard. The idea was that every life the doctor had to take to save the world, every evil act done for good had culminated in an evil 13th Doctor. The Valeyard is also desperate and not wanting to die as he has no regenerations, so he meddles in his own past trying to make himself immortal/appear earlier. He can't be killed because the action of killing him creates a new timeline where the valeyard that arose knew he'd die that way and avoids it.

I want them to bring the Valeyard in as a villain, it makes more sense as the doctor nears his final regenerations.

People... How about you just calm the hell down and watch the second part? That's generally where they explain the stuff that happened in the first part. Personally, the prospect of the Time Lords returning excited me to no end. I've seen people whining about how it will ruin it and my argument is that the series with the Time Lords in are the most enjoyable. Can't explain why. Maybe because Tom Baker was my favourite Doctor. I don't know.

I'm hoping that the woman appearing to Wilf was the Rani. A fan can dream eh? :p

It was a really funny episode, but I think Rowan suits Blackadder more. Although a sarcastic Doctor like Blackadder with a companion like Baldrick would be the best thing ever!
