Fantastic episode, pacing seemed at bit off towards the middle but it worked really well overall.
Loved the reference to the Nimon (great 4th Doctor story) but I really want to know what was in room 11. Could be himself but I'm always cautious around what seems obvious with Docotr Who.

Cybermen next week should be good. James Corden, not so good although I did kind of like "The Lodger". Plus there'll be Cybermats (about time they came back) and the Doctor working in a shop, what could possibly go wrong.

Shame to see Rory go, I felt he'd really started to develop into a bad-ass. Although I guess that's sorta the point.

Also, this was a bloody sweet episode. I feel like this weeks and last weeks have been an excellent return to form. And it gives you lots to wonder about, what would be in my/your room?

For me I can make a few guesses,

Spiders
The dark
A nightmare I had where there were creepy eyes in the dark and then there was chasing and jesus christ it was scary
Cathedrals (might have trouble cramming that in a hotel room)
Big numbers (don't ask)

I didnt like it, however this maybe because i was concentrating on something else while watching it, i need to watch it again really but still i didnt really think any of the side characters were developed enough for me to care about them, the fears inside the rooms seemed stupid eg the Gym Teacher and the group of girls (and the guy in the bear costume wtf), it seemed more like a parody and there should of been more creepy stuff like the dummies at the beggining where the guy was tied up. Also the fact that i didnt find the ending very thought provoking because you know that Amy and Rory are gonna return after the next episode. I need to watch it again though.

I loved how in the beginning he did that introduction speech and then picked up a cube, in reference to the movie.

I thought the bulk of the episode was lacklustre, it didn't really make me scared or emotional or anything.
David Walliams That cowardly alien's lines were priceless, though.
I didn't think the Minotaur monster was that interesting either...

But I was not expecting that ending.
Nearly made me cry, after having watched Rose and Donna end up in all sorts of mess.

I really hope James [small]-fucking-[/small] Corden isn't in the series for more than 1 episode.
You're funny as Smithy from Gavin & Stacy, but little else.

Im personally not sure if moffat is actually gonna be able to finish a story vaguely well this mini series...
Like this one, ok it wasnt bad, until the monster just drops dead cause the doctor somehow breaks amys faith in him, which survived the last episode...
heck im just waiting for the next 2, if the last 2 series isnt explained to the last detail as promised im giving up on the whole series

Not everything scary has to be visceral. The whole point of having rooms tailor made to everyone's fears is that it's fears specific to them. You might be afraid of water because you can't swim, for example, but that doesn't mean water is scary to everyone. It would, however, be scary to you.

I actually consider things like the gym teacher and the clown to be far more affecting than a room full of laughing dummies or something gross. I know i'm not the only one who can put his hand up and say honestly that being in a room full of giggling girls who take the piss out of you for being a pathetic excuse for a male and a nerd is a prospect more gut-wrenching than any "shock scare". I for one have an anxiety disorder and social phobia - so you can imagine how i would react if i was thrown into a situation like that like that young man was. I'd probably react in the same way he did.

I thought the episode was great. I love things that examine our deepest fears, probe the most disturbing images in our minds and force us to confront it. The Greek myth reference with the minotaur was clever, but honestly i felt it put a damper on what could have been an incredibly disturbing and unexplained borderline supernatural phenomenon. I know it's a kids show and i know it's a sci-fi show, but it's Twilight Zone-esque episodes like this that should really hinge on the weird and the unexplained to make it more affecting. But that's a personal taste.

It was Ok, I enjoyed it better than the last one but wasn't impressed.
And next week sees the return of Fuckwit (I forgot the characters name and nor do I care to remember) but on on the upside we get some Cybermen so atleast I have something to look forward to

I think it was himself. I really liked this episode anyway. The whole minotaur thing was awesome. Also "We are planting trees along the highways so invading forces can march in the shade" was the funniest thing all day. Can't wait for the next episode to, looks really good and has Cybermen. My favorite Who villains.
Do I win cool points if I tell you that my Mum's best friend invented the Cybermen? No really, the Cybermen were a result of a Blue Peter competition back in the days of old Doctor Who and her drawing and description of them was the winning entry.

OT: Loved this weeks episode. It was really rather sad when the female doctor was killed (although she could have been a little less stereotyped imo. She's Indian and her worst fear is her slave driver of a father? Good One.). I reckon it was probably either himself, River, or Amy in the Doctor's room. Also, at the risk of being eaten alive I must admit I think James Corden is brilliant and I'm glad to see him make a return. 'The Lodger' was the best episode of season 5 due in no small part to him.

I believe it is the reason he let go of Amy and Rory. I think the fear in the room was the death of one of his companions.

Next week looks interesting with cybermen. I am wonder what/who the Minotaur was talking about when it died. Hope it will be explained soon and not a setup for next season(what somehow i think will be).

I think your right, it was a good episode, and I loved the twilight zone :)

Wasn't the daleks done the same way? Interesting how two of the series' main villians were made by kids.

Was a good episode, enjoyed it more than the previous ones, David Walliams played a good character and had some great lines.

Also TimeLord seems to be slipping behind these past few episodes :p maybe his ipad is broken?

It's most likely the Doctor that he is talking about. This whole season has followed the theme of the Doctors death and how, despite his good intentions, he is often considered a menace to the galaxy.

Also, on Wikipedia it says series 7 has been announced, "all starring Matt Smith. Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will also appear." So we haven't seen the last of Amy and Rory, which kind of makes the ending of this episode less emotional.

Another bit of info on Wiki: The next episode's description says, "In his final days, the Doctor pays a visit to Craig Owens". Final Days! Meaning the death of the Doctor at the beginning of series 6 might actually be explained soon. (wouldn't this also mean that the Doctor in the next episode will be approx 200 years older than he is in this one?)

I felt really really really really bad for the Doctor. It seems like he's been hit with a hell of a lot of guilt in this series, which I feel is not deserved. I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but all the Doctor has ever tried to do is help people, and by 'people' I don't just mean humans; the Ood, those space whales, even the bloody Daleks (and before anyone argues, I seem to recall the 10th Doctor extending a hand to Dalek Sek(sp?) at one time.

Putting money on River Song being behind the Doctor's door.

The part at the end where the monster says the Doctor should accept death implies he is afraid to die, and he knows he's going to, he knows when and he knows who... So yeah, I say River Song.

Would be funny if it was him and River in the room partaking in "adult" activities, could've been why he hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign heh heh.

I was wondering how they were going to pull off the Doctor being 200 years older at the start of this series, but if he dropped Amy & Rory off, then that makes sense :) I wonder whether he enjoyed meeting Jimmy the Fish?

OT: One thing that kinda annoyed me about this episode was people's reaction to it of "Why is the series all about 'Oh no, we have to save Amy!*bam, Amy is saved*'?" after this episode, which was pretty much about how the Doctor keeps leading her into trouble and leaves her behind to save her for good :p

My guesses for what was behind door #11 are either: River, River/Doctor, the Untempered Schism (which he looked into, and ran away, and never stopped running), or himself in his Ninth incarnation when he committed the genocide of his entire species. Just my 2 cents ;)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to re-watch it ^_^

This episode was actually really good, seems like the most emotional, scary and thought provoking episode of Stephen Moffats series. I liked the way they gave a new spin on the greek tale of the maze and the Minotaur, and the end really blew me away. So, what do you guys think about it?
I was really really happy about this episode. After the last three abysmal episodes, this episode showed me that the show isn't going down the drain.

For one thing, yeeeeaaah, The Doctor was actually in the majority of this episode. Classic episode structure, The Doctor is trying to figure out what is going on, and the amount of scenes that he isn't in are few and relatively short.

As for what was in The Doctor's room, that is easy to say: It was the TARDIS, because other than himself, it is what he would have the most faith in.

Here's hoping that when Amy and Rory come back for series 7, they play a much much smaller part.

I hope they only get at the most two episodes, but that is wishful thinking, so let's just shoot for only 4. They are my least favorite companions, and I have seen episodes that involved most every companion since 1963. There are probably only a couple companions I haven't seen, but when I get a job and money, I will go on Amazon and correct that, considering that I only have 21 DVDs worth of the old series, though I have seen a good bit of the old series in my ramblings on the internet. Still I have to say that Amy and Rory are the worst companions.

It's actually a show that kids happen to like. It is not a kids show. So don't base your thoughts around that it is a kids show.

I don't know how it is viewed in the UK, but at the hours that I know some of the episodes have aired for the first time, are past the hours of children's programming in the US. From what I remember, new episodes that air on BBC America, air at 8pm or 9pm. I don't remember since only my dad get's BBC America, even though I love Doctor Who, I'm not going to use, round trip, 80 minutes worth of gas just to watch the latest episode, when I can just stream it on my computer a few hours after it airs.

But yeah, kids like it, but it isn't a kids show. That would be like saying Star Trek: The Next Generation is a kids show, because I liked watching it when I was a kid.
